BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox will honor an important part of baseball's history with the eighth annual Negro League Tribute Night on Saturday, June 20, as the Baysox take on the New Britain Rock Cats at 7:05 p.m. The night will feature former Negro League players, a hat giveaway and post-game fireworks.

Baysox Assistant General Manager Phil Wrye looks forward to the event each year. "These players never received the credit they deserved in their playing days. It's great that we get the opportunity to honor them at Prince George's Stadium."

The first 1,250 fans ages three and up will receive a free Homestead Grays replica hat, presented by Dietz and Watson. Prior to the game, the former Negro League players will be honored on the field and will throw out ceremonial first pitches.

In past years, the Baysox have played in replica Negro League jerseys that were auctioned off during the game. This year, the team will hit the field wearing nine different replica Negro League jerseys, but the jerseys will not be auctioned during the game.

After the game, fans are encouraged to stick around for a fireworks extravaganza at Prince George's Stadium.

The Baysox 17th season as the class AA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles is underway! Check out www.baysox.com to see all that's going on at the stadium this year, and don't miss a moment of the action as the Baysox attempt to bring home their first Eastern League championship.
