WICHITA, KS- Liberal Bee Jays manager and former Emporia State University catcher John Martin returned to the Wichita Wingnuts' lineup on Tuesday in the nightcap of Wichita's double header versus Sioux City.

Five days ago, Martin managed the Bee Jays to a championship at the BaseballSavings.com 76th Annual National Baseball Congress World Series with a 9-6 win over the Seattle Studs. It was Liberal's 12th appearance in the championship game and their fifth title all-time. The Bee Jays finished the tournament 7-1 with Martin being voted Best Manager.

Martin was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 24th round out of Emporia State in 2006 where he was a teammate of Wingnuts' starter Gabe Medina. The Shawnee, KS native played for the Wingnuts in the final weeks of 2009 when backup catcher Michael Sharp, a fellow ESU alumnus, went down with a season-ending thumb injury. In addition to his work with Liberal, Martin also serves as Emporia State's Pitching Coach.

The Wingnuts continue their series with Sioux City tonight at 7:05 p.m. The series finale is Thursday at 12:05 p.m. For tickets, call the Wingnuts' office at (316) 264-NUTS.
