Pensacola 3, Ft. Worth 2
1B Javier Brito's 18th homer of the season helped Pensacola grab a 3-2 victory over Ft. Worth. Brito finished 1-for-2 with two walks and two RBI, while LF Marcos Rodriguez was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. Pelicans 3B Adolfo Gonzalez also homered in the game. Pensacola starter David Nathanson struckout five in six innings to improve his record to 7-5 with the win. Cats starter Joel Kirsten was equally effective, allowing seven hits in seven innings and striking out five. His record fell to 3-6.
Grand Prairie 5, El Paso 2
Grand Prairie snapped a 2-2 tie with three runs in the fifth inning and went on to defeat El Paso by a 5-2 final. C Daniel Berg and 2B Antoin Gray each homered for the AirHogs and 3B Greg Banks finished 3-for-4 with a run scored. Grand Prairie pitchers Chris Martin and Dan Griffin combined to strikeout 15 hitters while surrendering just eight hits in the contest. Martin went six innings and kept his record perfect at 4-0. Griffin earned his first save. Diablos SS Arnoldo Ponce finished 2-for-4 with a triple in a losing effort.
Sioux City 8, Wichita 3
Sioux City scored five early runs on their way to an 8-3 win over Wichita. The Explorers chased Wingnuts starter Adam Cowart after just 3.2 innings as they tallied seven hits against him. 3B Kent Sakamoto had a big game for the Explorers as he finished 3-for-4 with a RBI. 2B Derek Schermerhorn hit his third homer of the season as he finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Sioux City starter Mikael Ryder allowed three earned runs on five hits in 6.1 innings of work and improved his record to 9-6 with the victory. 1B Carlos Rivera homered twice for Wichita.
Sioux Falls 12, St. Paul 2
Sioux Falls ended this one early with five runs in the first inning and two in the second as they sprinted past St. Paul by a score of 12-2. 3B Trevor Lawhorn, SS Tim Hutting, and LF Beau Torbert did most of the damage at the plate for Sioux Falls. Lawhorn homered, drove in four, and scored twice as part of a 2-for-4 performance. Hutting homered as well, finishing 3-for-5 with a RBI and three runs scored. Torbert added four hits in five at-bats, scored twice and drove in two runs. Pheasants starter Travis Kane delivered six solid innings as he surrendered both Saints runs on eight hits. He improved his record to 4-5 with the win. With their victory and Wichita's loss, the Pheasants increased their lead in the North Division standings to 1.5 games.
Shreveport-Bossier 5, Lincoln 2
Shreveport-Bossier used a big fourth inning to down Lincoln by a 5-2 final. The bottom third of the Captains batting order sparked the rally as SS Uriak Marquez led off with a double and C Brian Peterson drew a walk. CF Jovanny Rosario followed with a two-run single and RF Bryan Sabatella capped the scoring with his third homerun of the year. Starter Ryan DiPietro continued to pitched well for Shreveport-Bossier as he went 6.2 innings, striking out five to earn get the win and improve his record to 9-3. Hector Carrasco worked the ninth inning for the Captains and picked up his 18th save.
