Navarro, Avilo Fuel 1-0 Power Win

The West Virginia Power snuck out a 1-0 win Wednesday evening over the Greensboro Grasshoppers. Eric Avila's eighth inning solo home run provided all the offense two Power pitcher would need in the vicotyr.
The game provided a pitching duel between starters, Eliecer Navarro for West Virginia and Robert Morey for Greensboro. Neither starter factored in the game's decision as they were both removed from the game before any scoring.
Eliecer Navarro provided five impressive innings of work to open the game for the Power. Navarro brought his best to retire eight 'Hoppers batters on strikes. Navarro was able to fan Christian Yelich and Jacob Realmuto twice in his outing. Overall Navarro faced 21 batters and only gave up five hits in his five scoreless innings.
Robert Morey threw seven strong innings for the Grasshoppers to keep the Power bats quiet. Morey kept West Virginia off the scoreboard while allowing six hits and striking out seven.
Colton Cain (6-7) kept the dominant pitching going in four innings he pitched in relief for the Power. Cain came into the game in the sixth and the pitched the rest of the way for West Virginia. Cain continued the theme of no runs while giving up four hits and striking out three Grasshopper batters.
The only scoring in the ballgame came in the bottom of the eighth inning against Greensboro reliever Miguel Mejia. Avila led off the inning for the Power with a solo home run to give West Virginia a 1-0 lead, which would go as the final tally.
Mejia (0-1) took the loss as he surrendered the game's only run. Mejia then settled in and retired the next three batters consecutively. Mejia pitched one inning giving up only one run on one hit, but it ultimately proved to be the difference in the game.
The West Virginia Power and the Greensboro Grasshoppers will close their four game series Thursday night at Appalachian Power Park. Left hander Zac Fuesser (2-4) will get the start for the Power against Rett Varner (5-5) on the bump for the Grasshoppers.
