
Naturals Rally Late, But Missions Walk-Off in Game Two

SAN ANTONIO, Texas. - The Northwest Arkansas Naturals (32-21) trailed for entire game before Kenny Diekroeger came to bat with Terrance Gore at third base. Diekroeger doubled down the line to score Gore to tie the game at four a piece; but San Antonio Missions (24-30) third baseman Duanel Jones hit the second pitch of the 10th inning over the leftfield wall to send the crowd of 5,138 home a winner for the second straight game at Nelson Wolff Municipal Stadium on Saturday night.
With the game tied at four in the bottom of the ninth, pinch-hitter for San Antonio Hunter Renfroe lifted a ball to fairly deep right-centerfield with a runners at second and third and one out. Centerfielder Bubba Starling, in his first game back since May 10, made the catch and fired a bullet home to peg the tagging baserunner Albert Martinez at the plate to send the game to extra innings.
The Missions took an early 4-0 lead off starter Jonathan Dziedzic through the first three innings; but the Naturals bullpen of Benino Prudena and Mark Peterson kept the Naturals in the game. Peterson worked 3.0 scoreless innings in relief while Pruneda tossed a scoreless sixth inning with a pair of strikeouts.
Northwest Arkansas cut into the deficit in the sixth inning off Missions starter Bryan Rodriguez using an RBI base hit by Balino Fuenmayor, a sacrifice fly from Jorge Bonifacio and a double by Zane Evans make it a 4-3 game.
Left-hander Sam Selman (1-2, 4.43) took the loss surrendering the home run to Jones in the 10th inning.
Evans ended his night 2-for-5 with a double and his 11th RBI in his first 11 games with the Naturals while Mike Bianucci finished 2-for-3 with a walk.
The Naturals look for their seventh straight win in series finales on Sunday afternoon from the Alamo City with right-hander Miguel Almonte (4-3, 4.30) on the hill searching for his fifth win of the season. Countering for the Missions will be MLB rehabber Brandon Morrow with the 2:05 p.m. first pitch.
The Naturals are 12-1 in series finales this season.
