
Naturals Hold off Tulsa's Late Charge in Fourth Straight Win

Andrew Hoffmann (3-5) earned a win after 5.1 shutout innings in the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (8-8, 37-48) 4-3 victory over the Tulsa Drillers (6-11, 47-39) on Wednesday night at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale, Arkansas. The two teams continue their series on Thursday with a 7:05 PM CT first pitch.
NWA scored the game's first run in the bottom of the opening inning when Diego Hernandez singled to left and stole second and third base. With two outs, Jorge Bonifacio singled to left to score Hernandez, giving the Naturals a 1-0 edge.
Another came home in the second when Jeison Guzmán crossed the plate on Jake Means' ground out to third to extend the lead, and Tyler Tolbert ripped a two-run triple to the wall in the fourth to put NWA up 4-0.
Hoffmann finished up his night in the sixth, coming out of the game with one out in the inning. The righty went 5.1 innings while allowing three hits and two walks, striking out seven in the scoreless outing.
The Drillers came back in the eighth, scoring three runs before Brett de Geus put his foot down. The righty allowed two hits before getting pop out from Diego Cartaya and striking out Carson Taylor looking to close out the frame and end the trouble. de Geus hit Brandon Lewis in the ninth inning with one out, but got the final two outs of the game to close out a 4-3 victory, the Naturals' fourth straight.
Northwest Arkansas and Tulsa continue their series on Thursday night at Arvest Ballpark with a 7:05 PM CT first pitch. It's a Bark in the Ballpark on a Thirsty Thursday, presented by Pecan Nation.
