Naranjo's Big Night Ends with Walk-Off Hit as Akron Beats Binghamton 4-3 in 11

Joe Naranjo caps a three-hit night with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th to lift the Akron RubberDucks over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 4-3 on Saturday night at Canal Park.

Turning Point

Akron loaded the bases in the bottom of the 11th after Angel Martinez was placed on second before Bryan Lavastida was hit by a pitch and Juan Brito singled. After a pop out, Naranjo singled down the left field line to score Martinez and give Akron the 4-3 win.

Mound Presence

Will Dion was lights-out in his first home start for the RubberDucks. The left-hander struck out five the first time through the Binghamton order on his way to six innings allowing two runs while striking out seven. Jordan Jones followed with four innings allowing a solo home run while striking out two. Mason Hickman struck out one in his scoreless inning of work.

Duck Tales

The RubberDucks were held hitless until the bottom of the fourth. Petey Halpin lined a no-doubt solo home run with one out in the inning to give Akron its first hit and put the RubberDucks ahead 1-0. Akron added on in the fourth when Brito singled home Martinez to make it 2-0 Ducks. Naranjo singled to open the fifth before coming around to score on Aaron Bracho's double down the right-field line to make it 3-0 Akron.

Notebook

Halpin's home run was his first since April 27 in Binghamton...the walk-off win was Akron's third in 2023...Game Time: 2:45...Attendance: 6,420.

The RubberDucks will conclude their series at Canal Park against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Sunday, June 25 at 2:05 p.m. Guardians right-hander Cal Quantrill will make a rehab start for Akron.
