The Nailers scored an early goal for the third consecutive game, but it wasn't enough as they dropped a 6-3 decision to the visiting Augusta Lynx tonight at WesBanco Arena.

After scoring in the first minute of the past two games, it took the Nailers all of 1:16 to take a 1-0 lead on a Grant McNeill slap shot. Joe Jensen, back from Wilkes-Barre, had the first assist and Jon Smyth had the second.

The Lynx, unbeaten in regulation in their past eight games, tied the game at 4:59 of the first.

Ryan Lang, in the top five in scoring in the ECHL, slammed home a shot that had gotten behind Andy Franck for his 19th goal of the season.

The Lynx took a 2-1 lead at 11:55 of the first.

Shorthanded, Joe Pereira skated down the left wing and got Franck to over commit. He went around the prone goaltender and tucked the puck just inside the post for the goal.

Ryan Lang scored his second goal of the game to give the Lynx a 3-1 lead at 7:08 of the second. Lang, who was stationed just in front of the goal crease, put the puck just past Franck's outstretched glove hand.

Jordan Cameron got the Nailers back to within one at 9:05 of the second when he beat Augusta goalie Dave McKee. Bernie Chmiel and Adam Edinger had the assists.

Sean Collins, playing his first game in a Nailers sweater in over a month, tied the game at three with just over five minutes to play in the second.

Collins skated in from the right side, crossed the ice and flipped a back hand over the right shoulder of McKee. Eric Sonnenberg had the primary assist while Andy Franck was credited with the second assist. It was the Nailers goalie's second helper on the season.

The Lynx took back the lead with 1:43 to go in the second period when Brian Passmore beat Franck on his stick side to make it 4-3. Ken Scuderi, brother of Pittsburgh Penguin Rob Scuderi, had an assist on the goal.

The second ended with Augusta holding a 4-3 advantage.

The Lynx went back up by two at 9:39 of the final frame.

Aaron Slattengren took a cross ice feed from Joe Pereira on a 2-on-1 and buried it past Franck to make it 5-3.

Slattengren added his second goal of the game with 3:33 remaining to make it 6-3. After taking the initial shot that was stopped, Slattengren controlled his own rebound and put it past Franck.

The Nailers end their three game home stand with a 2-1 record and 38 points. They remain five points out of the final North Division playoff spot.
