Wheeling, WV - Ryan Lang and Aaron Slattengren each scored a pair of goals to help the Lynx to a 6-3 victory over the Wheeling Nailers on Sunday afternoon to extend the Lynx' winning streak to four games.

Wheeling opened the scoring just 1:16 into the game as Grant McNeill scored his first goal of the season on a goalmouth scramble, shoveling the puck past a sprawling Dave McKee to give the Nailers an early lead.

But as they did the night before, the Lynx would score twice before the end of the stanza to forge a 2-1 lead.

Mike Erickson rang a shot off the crossbar behind Andy Franck in the Wheeling net, sending the puck straight up into the air and eventually landing straight on the goal line, where Ryan Lang was able to sweep it in for his 19th of the season.

Then the Lynx would pot its 16th shorthanded marker of the season, tying Augusta for the ECHL lead in that category. Weston Tardy led a rush down the left wing before leaving the puck for Joe Pereira, who deked Franck down to the ice and stickhandled around the sprawling netminder to tuck the puck into the unguarded cage at 11:55.

Lang's second of the night extended the lead to 3-1 at 7:08 of the middle frame, but the Nailers scored twice to tie the contest on goals from Jordan Cameron and Sean Collins.

With time running down in the frame, Ken Scuderi pushed the puck up the right wing wall to Brian Passmore, who fired a wrist shot from the wing that hit the goal post, bounced off the back of Franck, and cleared the goal line to give the Lynx a 4-3 advantage through 40 minutes of play.

Slattengren provided the insurance for the Lynx with a pair of goals at 9:39 and 16:27 of the final frame, as despite its best effort Wheeling could not beat McKee in the third period.

McKee earned his 19th win of the year with 24 saves on 27 shots, while Franck took the loss with 23 stops.

The Lynx travel to Dayton to battle the Bombers on Tuesday night at 7:05 pm, with radio coverage starting one-half hour before faceoff on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630.
