TRENTON, NJ (January 28, 2007) - The Trenton Titans were able to fend off a late rally by the Reading Royals to come away with a 5-4 win in front of 4,412 at the Sovereign Bank Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Trenton took a 4-2 lead into the third period thanks to a shorthanded goal by John Laliberte and Gino Pisellini's first marker in a Titans' uniform.

Greg Hogeboom got the Royals back within one as he took a feed from Shawn Collymore and released a wrist shot that found the top corner at 9:01. The Titans would push their cushion back to two goals when Troy Riddle sprang Scott Bertoli with a breakaway pass, which the latter converted with 6:52 left in regulation.

The Royals were able to make it interesting as Hogeboom picked up his third goal of the night and cut Trenton's lead back to one goal when his shot from the half-wall snuck by Gregg Naumenko at 14:57. With Reading skating on a 6-on-4 power play late in the game, Trenton would deny them their chance to tie things up and hold on for the win.

Malcom MacMillan put the Royals up 1-0 with his team down a man, forcing a turnover outside the Titans' zone before skating in and roofing a backhander into the net at 7:03.

Trenton would never trail again in the contest as Riddle and Mike Manley both scored over a span of 1:08 to make the score 2-1 at 9:30 of the first period.

Naumenko made 31-of-35 saves to register his tenth win of the season.

Trenton went 0-for-6 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
