Wheeling Nailers News Release

Wheeling W.Va.- The Nailers clicked on all cylinders and had little difficulty in disposing of the Johnstown Chiefs 7-0 Saturday night at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling. Jordan Parise got the shutout win for the Nailers and Thomas Beauregard led the scoring attack with the first hat trick of the season for the Nailers. Blair Yaworski added a pair of goals and an assist, and Casey Pierro-Zabotel and Jordan Fox had a goal each.

Parise's shutout was the first for the Nailers in over a year dating back to November 19th, 2008 when Curtis Darling shutout the Trenton Devils 4-0.

Beauregard moved into a tie for the league in goals with Ryan Kinasewich of Utah with 16.

Yaworski now has 3 goals in his last 2 games. Yaworski scored 18 goals Johnstown last year, 11 of which have come against the Nailers. Now the Yale University product is returning the favor with all 4 of his goals this season coming against the Chiefs.

Pierro-Zabotel has 2 goals in his last 3 games and a total of 3 on the season. Like Yaworski, all of Pierro-Zabotel's goals have come against the Chiefs as well.

Wheeling's 7 goals and 45 shots were both season highs while their 3 power play goals equaled a season-high.

The Wheeling Nailers and Boy Scouts America celebrated 100 years of scouting with a limited edition Spike Bobble Head. During the pre-game the Nailers' mascot Spike was sworn in as an honorary member of the Boy Scouts of America.

The Wheeling Nailers took a 1-0 lead at 12:04 in the first with a goal by Thomas Beauregard who fired it in on the far post blocker side of the Chiefs' goalie Shane Connelly for his 14th of the season assisted by Alex Grant and Aaron Clarke.

Casey Pierro-Zabotel scored a power play goal on a give and go play from behind the net for his 3rd goal of the season assisted by Thomas Beauregard and Kevin Schmidt stretching the lead to 2-0 at 14:24 in the first.

Jordan Fox stole the puck from the Chiefs and connected with Blair Yaworski who beat Connelly over his right shoulder from the right wing for his 3rd of the season at 4:52 in the second also assisted by Chris Capraro.

At 6:26 in the second Yaworski centered cross ice to Beauregard who fired it in for his 2nd of the game stretching the lead to 4-0. Grant also assisted on the play.

Beauregard later tipped in a drive from T.J. Fox for a Nailers power play goal to complete the hat trick.

Yaworski snuck it in the 5 hole for his 2nd of the game on the power play giving the Nailers a 6-0 advantage for the team's 4th goal of the 2nd period. Jordan Fox and Grant got assists on the play.

Jordan Fox capped the scoring making it 7-0 with 2:02 left in the third for his 7th of the season with assists from Capraro and Clarke.
