WINSTON-SALEM, NC (JULY 7, 2011) - On a wet and soggy Thursday night at BB&T Ballpark, the Pelicans were right at home, beating Winston-Salem 8-2. Dash starter Andre Rienzo left the ballgame in the second with an injury, and Myrtle Beach scored seven of their runs in the second and third innings combined.

Myrtle Beach (7-8, 46-37) jumped on Rienzo to start the second. After a scoreless opening frame, the first four batters reached. Travis Adair singled and moved to second when Vinny DiFazio walked. Jared Hoying drove in Adair with a single, and DiFazio scored on Santiago Chirino's double. Rienzo then left the game after the injury and gave way to J.R. Ballinger. Jared Bolden and Andres James grounded into consecutive fielder's choices to give the Pelicans a four-run lead.

In the third, Myrtle continued to push across runs. Ryan Strausborger led off with a double and with one out, Ballinger loaded the bases by hitting DiFazio and walking Hoying. Chirino then reached on a fielder's choice that scored Strausborger, and DiFazio crossed home on a throwing error by Daniel Wagner. Bolden followed by doubling in Chirino.

The Pelicans got on the board again in the sixth when Andres James singled to lead off and moved to third on a double by Prince. Mitch Hilligoss then grounded out to second, scoring James.

The Dash (7-7, 39-45) avoided the shutout in the seventh inning when Wagner walked with two outs. Tyler Saladino then hit his 11th home run of the season to make the score 8-2.
