
Myles Lifts RubberDucks over Erie 5-2

Akron's Bryson Myles stroked three hits and drove in three runs on Thursday night, as the RubberDucks opened a seven-game road trip with a 5-2 win over the Erie SeaWolves at Jerry Uht Park.
Turning Point
The RubberDucks (48-44) struck for two runs in the first inning off Austin Kubitza (5-8) and never looked back. After lead-off singles by Todd Hankins and Yandy Diaz, Bradley Zimmer moved the runners up on a grounder to first in his first AA at-bat. Carlos Moncrief drove in Hankins with a grounder to first base, and Myles followed with an RBI single to center for a 2-0 lead.
Mound Presence
Akron starter Shawn Morimando (6-9) was outstanding in 6 2/3 innings of work. He allowed only a solo homer to Erie's Tony Thomas in the fourth inning. He scattered four hits, walked two and fanned six. Morimando threw 99 pitches, 63 of which were strikes. He picked up his first win since June 23rd. Right-hander Joe Colon tossed an 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief after Morimando. Enosil Tejeda walked in a run in the ninth to make it 5-2, but wriggled out of the jam when he retired pinch-hitter James Robbins with the bases loaded to end the game.
Duck Tales
Myles was 3-5, with a pair of doubles and three RBI, He chipped in RBI doubles in the fifth and ninth. Joe Sever and Justin Toole collected two hits apiece. Sever lined an RBI single in the fifth. In his AA debut, Zimmer, Cleveland's top pick from the 2014 draft, was 1-4, with a walk. In the ninth inning, he slammed a double off the wall in left for his first Double-A hit, and later scored his first run.

Colon was called for a ball by home plate umpire John Bacon due to a clock violation when he entered the game in the seventh...Of Akron's 11 hits, five were doubles...Time of game: 2:50...Attendance: 3,516.
