Glasnow Strikes out Nine in 5-0 Curve Win at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. - In the first game after the All-Star Break, the Altoona Curve shut out the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 5-0, on Thursday night at The Diamond. Tyer Glasnow had nine strikeouts in seven scoreless innings while Jose Osuna and Josh Bell each drove in two runs.

The Curve (49-41) held the Flying Squirrels (45-44) to just three hits in the game.

Glasnow (Win, 4-2) allowed just three hits with no walks in his seven innings, and the nine strikeouts set a new season high.

The Altoona offense spotted Glasnow a three-run lead before he took the mound in the first. After a triple by Max Moroff, Bell brought him in the score with a single. Osuna followed with a two-run homer against Richmond starter Edwin Quirarte (Loss, 0-2).

The Curve added another run in the fourth with an RBI double by Mel Rojas Jr. in the fourth and Bell hit another run-scoring single in the fifth to put the Curve in front, 5-0.

Curve relievers Jhondaniel Medina and Brett McKinney each worked a scoreless inning.

Adam Frazier went 0-for-5, ending his 15-game hitting streak.

The Curve and Flying Squirrels continue the series with a doubleheader on Friday night at The Diamond. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. with right-hander Chad Kuhl (7-3, 2.89) on the hill for Altoona. Lefty Kelvin Marte will pitch for Richmond.
