Trenton Thunder News Release

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Class AA Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that they will have Yankees RHP Mike Mussina for a rehabilitation start on Friday in Harrisburg, PA, weather permitting.

This start would be a "homecoming" of sorts for Mussina, who was born in Williamsport, PA approximately 80 miles north of Harrisburg. He becomes the 7th N.Y. Yankees pitcher and the 17th Yankees player overall to have a rehab assignment with the Thunder.

In 2007, Mussina has a 0-1 record with a 9.00 ERA. He was placed on the Disabled List on April 15th with a strained left hamstring, an injury that occurred in his start against the Minnesota Twins on April 11th. Mussina is coming off a 2006 campaign in which he posted a 15-7 record and a 3.51 ERA.

Mussina was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 1st Round (20th Overall) of the 1990 Draft. He played in college for Stanford University. Mussina has a 239-135 record in his 17-year Major League career. His 239 wins is 5th among active pitchers and 54th all-time, tied with Mordecai "Three-Finger" Brown. Mussina is a five-time American League All-Star and a six-time Gold Glove Winner. His earned-run average has been among the "Top 5" of American League pitchers in seven of his first 16 seasons.

After ten seasons in an Orioles uniform, Mussina signed a free agent contract with the N.Y. Yankees on November 30, 2000. He has a 92-54 mark in seven season with the Yankees. Mussina signed a contract extension last year that runs through the 2008 season.

The Thunder are home Thursday to conclude a four-game series with the Connecticut Defenders. Game time is 7:05 PM. Tickets for tonight's game, with a Post-Game Fireworks show, are available by calling 609-394-3300 or on-line at www.trentonthunder.com.
