Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Trenton Thunder, Class AA Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that they will have Yankees RHP Mike Mussina for a rehabilitation start on Friday in Harrisburg, PA, weather permitting.

This start would be a "homecoming" of sorts for Mussina, who was born in Williamsport, PA approximately 80 miles north of Harrisburg.

This will be the second major league rehab assignment for Mussina against Harrisburg. Mussina, with Baltimore at the time, pitched against the Senators on August 15, 1993. Mussina was the winner in that game as he went six innings, allowed just one hit and had nine strikeouts. The Bowie Bay Sox won 3-1 in the game, which was played at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore in front of 12,247 fans.

In 2007, Mussina has an 0-1 record with a 9.00 ERA. He was placed on the Disabled List on April 15th with a strained left hamstring, an injury that occurred in his start against the Minnesota Twins on April 11th. Mussina is coming off a 2006 campaign in which he posted a 15-7 record and a 3.51 ERA.

Mussia was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 1st Round (20th Overall) of the 1990 Draft. He played in college for Stanford University. Mussina has a 239-135 record in his 17-year Major League career. He is a five-time American League All-Star and a six-time Gold Glove Winner. Mussina earned-run average has been among the "Top 5" of American League pitchers in seven of his first 16 seasons.

After ten seasons in an Orioles uniform, Mussina signed a free agent contract with the N.Y. Yankees on November 30, 2000. He has a 92-54 mark in seven season with the Yankees.
