Mudcats Clinch Series Win Over Smokies

Zebulon, NC- The Carolina Mudcats (28-24) clinched a series win over the Tennessee Smokies (21-32) Tuesday night at Five County Stadium, winning 1-0 on a walk-off home run off the bat of Juan Francisco.

Hitless in his previous three at bats, Francisco drilled a 1-1 pitch off the visiting clubhouse beyond the wall in right field in the bottom of the 10th inning. Todd Frazier went 3-5 on the night, hitting his Southern League best 23rd double.

Travis Wood started for the Mudcats, allowing no earned runs over six innings on three hits and a walk. RHP Logan Ondrusek pitched two perfect innings in relief of Wood. Ramon Geronimo (W, 2-1) struck out two during his two innings of work to earn the win.

Tennessee starter Casey Coleman went 6.2 innings, shutting out Carolina while allowing eight hits and five walks. Todd Blackford (L, 1-2) retired Todd Frazier to start the 10th before giving up the game winning home run.

RHP Jordan Smith (4-0, 2.84) will make the start for the Mudcats while the Smokies starter is still to be announced. Game time is set for 7:15 PM Wednesday night at Five County Stadium as the Mudcats look to win their seventh straight game.
