Carolina Mudcats News Release

Zebulon, NC --- With Chris Coghlan's name now etched in the Southern League annals following his Most Valuable Player award at Monday night's Southern League All-Star Game, the Carolina Mudcats are building an all-star dynasty.

With Coghlan's three-run homer against Jacksonville's Jesus Castillo, Coghlan became the third Mudcat to win the MVP award in the last four years, joining IF Lee Mitchell in the 2007 game at Mississippi, and current Florida Marlin OF Jeremy Hermida notching the honor at Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile in 2005.

Since the league realigned into the present North-South format in 2005, the North has prevailed in all four games by a combined score of 34-14.

The 2009 Southern League All-Star game will be played at Regions Park in Birmingham, AL next July
