Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs broke open a scoreless game with three unanswered goals in the second period of play and they went on to defeat the Fort Worth Brahmas 4-0 Friday night at the Century-Tel Center.

After a scoreless first period, the Mudbugs got the first goal of the game when forward Ryan Manitowich shoveled a rebound past Brahmas goaltender Tyler Nilsson at the 4:43 mark of the second. The 'Bugs then extended their lead to 2-0 when center Jason Campbell capitalized on a two on one break when he lifted a glove side shot past Nilsson at the 10:10 mark of the period. Bossier-Shreveport made it 3-0 when forward Chad Spurr scored a shorthanded goal into the Brahmas net after Nilsson had fallen down attempting to play the puck late in the period.

Fort Worth was unable to rally in the third period of play, as the 'Bugs went up 4-0 ten seconds into the period on d-man Craig Minard's blast from the left point. The Brahmas averted a shutout when left wing Chad Woollard scored on a shorthanded breakaway at the 17:40 mark of the third.

Nilsson was excellent in defeat for the Brahmas, as he stopped 42 of the 46 shots that the Mudbugs sent his way. Bossier-Shreveport goaltender Ken Carroll turned away 24 of the 25 Brahmas shots he faced to get the win.

Fort Worth will return home to the Fort Worth Convention Center for two games this weekend.
