Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

Fort Worth – The Fort Worth Brahmas added what they hope will be an impact player to their lineup this evening with the signing of right wing Peter Bournazakis.

Bournazakis, 6'0", 225, was officially signed to a contract and placed on the Brahmas roster at approximately 5:30 CST today, and he made his Brahmas debut tonight in Fort Worth's 3-1 loss on home ice against the New Mexico Scorpions. He did not register a point in the game, but did have two shots on goal.

The Toronto, Ontario native is in his third professional season. He began this year with the Pensacola Ice Pilots of the East Coast Hockey League, scoring 4 goals and assisting on 11 others in 10 games with the Ice Pilots. He was then traded to the Reading Royals on Nov. 20, but he elected not to go to Reading and instead has joined the Brahmas.

Last year, Bournazakis skated in 61 games for the Port Huron Beacons of the United Hockey League, scoring 22 goals and adding 31 helpers for a season total of 53 points.

Before going to Port Huron last season, Bournazakis was one of the top rookies in the CHL during the 2001-2002 season. He played for the Indianapolis Ice, and scored 29 goals to go with 48 assists for 77 points in 64 games. He was selected as a CHL All Star that season, playing in the 2002 CHL All Star game in Corpus Christi in January of 2002. At the conclusion of the season, he was a finalist for the 2001-2002 CHL Rookie of the Year award.

Prior to turning pro, Bournazakis enjoyed a high scoring four years of collegiate hockey at R.I.T. (NCAA) from 1997-2001. In 114 career games at R.I.T., he scored 97 goals and picked up 127 assists.

To make room for Bournazakis on his roster, Brahmas head coach Bill Inglis placed center Chad Brandimore on waivers.

Bournazakis and his Brahmas teammates will be in action again on home ice tomorrow afternoon, hosting the Wichita Thunder at 3:00 P.M. at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
