SETTING THE STAGE: Tonight's game will be the first of two meetings this season between the Brahmas and the Scorpions...Fort Worth will play at New Mexico on Friday, March 5, 2004...Last season, the Scorpions won both of the meetings between the two clubs...Fort Worth is 5-8-2 all time against New Mexico, and just 2-5-1 on home ice...This will be the third game of the week for the both the Brahmas and the Scorpions.
FORT WORTH NOTES: This will be the first game in a six-game homestand for the Brahmas...Fort Worth is still looking for their first win of the season on home ice (0-5-1)...The Brahmas were in action last night in Bossier City, losing 4-1 to the Mudbugs...Left wing Chad Woollard scored the only goal in the game for Fort Worth...Goaltender Tyler Nilsson was spectacular in defeat, stopping 42 of the 46 Mudbugs shots he faced...The loss was the Brahmas ninth in a row...Center Aaron Davis assisted on Woollard's goal last night, giving him three assists in his last two games...Center Jason Reesor, who did not play last night for Fort Worth because of the flu, will be a game time decision for the Brahmas...Team captain Chad Grills is likely to be out of the lineup tonight because of an injury suffered in Corpus Christi on Wednesday.
NEW MEXICO NOTES: The improving Scorpions have won two games in a row, including a 3-2 shootout win last night in Tulsa...Left wing Brian Barker netted the game winning goal in the shootout for the Scorps...Centers Matt Mathias and Mike Oliviera also scored in the game for New Mexico...Center Chris Richards comes into the game as the Scorpions leading scorer with 21 points (2G/19A)...Oliviera leads the Scorpions in goals with 10...Former Brahmas forward Ben Gorewich has ten points on 6 goals and 4 assists...Miguel Beaudry has been New Mexico's primary goaltender this season, posting a 2-6-1 record, a 3.38 GAA, and a .890 save percentage.
