Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - Chad Woollard scored at 1:04 of overtime to give the Texas Brahmas a 4-3 victory over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Friday night at the NyTex Sports Centre. Although they fell just short of stopping their losing streak, the Mudbugs did gain a point with the overtime defeat to stand 21-16-2 this season.

Jamie Milam scored two goals while Shawn Limpright scored the other one and had an assist for the ‚¬ËœBugs, who rallied from a 3-1 deficit to tie the game and force overtime. Bossier-Shreveport outshot Texas 31-24 in the game and 12-4 in the third period, but could not beat Wayne Savage a fourth time as they dropped to 0-5-1 in their last six games.

The game started with fisticuffs as James DeLory dropped the gloves with Mike Sgroi right off the opening draw. The Mudbugs took a 1-0 lead when Steven Crampton sent a weak-side pass across to Shawn Limpright, who re-directed it into the net at 8:59. Texas countered when a scrum in front of Brian Foster ended with the puck crossing the goal line right as the net was being dislodged, but the goal counted and the game was tied. The Brahmas then took a 2-1 lead into the locker room after Darryl McArthur ‚¬â„¢s tap-in finished off a nice passing play for Texas at 15:44.

Bossier-Shreveport skated to a 12-9 edge in shots in the second period and got a lengthy powerplay after Mick Lawrence was issued a match penalty for sucker-punching Kevin Jarman from behind. It was Texas who would find the net first however as Calin Wild scored his second of the night shorthanded to make it 3-1 Brahmas. The Mudbugs quickly cut the deficit back to one on the powerplay at 11:51 when Jamie Milam blasted a shot past Wayne Savage from the left circle to bring the ‚¬ËœBugs within a goal after two periods.

Milam ‚¬â„¢s second goal came on a long slapshot from the point which beat Savage over his glove hand at 2:38 of the third to knot the game at three. The ‚¬ËœBugs generated a number of chances the rest of the way, but Savage helped his team get the game to overtime. After holding off the Mudbugs during a late powerplay that carried over into the extra session, Woollard poked the rebound of Chris Moran ‚¬â„¢s shot between Foster ‚¬â„¢s legs to give Texas the win.

Brian Foster (8-7-1) made 20 saves in the overtime defeat, while Wayne Savage (5-5-1) was strong with 28 saves for the Brahmas. Bossier-Shreveport finished 1 for 4 on the powerplay, while Texas was 0 for 2.

The Mudbugs will now return home to start a six-game homestand tomorrow night at 7:05 pm, when they ‚¬â„¢ll face off against the rival Laredo Bucks for the sixth time this year on "Star Wars Night".
