Shorthanded Bucks Fall in Tulsa 6-1

TULSA, OK- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Tulsa Oilers 6-1 Friday night at the BOK Center. The Bucks are winless in their last three games (0-2-1) as they fall to 13-17-6 (32 points).

The Bucks jumped out in front for the second straight game and took a 1-0 lead when Jeff Bes converted off of an Oilers turnover and scored from the slot 5:43 into the first period. The goal was Bes' 14th of the season and his 213th in his Bucks career. Laredo has now scored first 19 times this season.

The Oilers (20-18-1, 41 points) would tie the game at 1-1 less than two minutes later when Evan Kotsopolous picked up a bouncing puck in the slot and banged home a wrist shot to net his eighth of the year.

Tulsa would take a 2-1 lead with 2:20 left in the first period when Chad Costello scored from the right circle off of a pass from Jack Combs on a two-on-one break. The goal was Costello's 24th of the season, tying Combs for the CHL lead.

Laredo was outshot 11-6 in the first period.

Tulsa would pick up two more goals in the first eight minutes of the second period to take a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Gary Steffes put the Oilers up 3-1 when he took the puck from his own blue line and skated down the right wing before scoring from the bottom of the circle to pick up his 12th of the campaign.

Tulsa would to up 4-1 at the 8:00 mark of the second when Tom Dignard took a drop pass from Costello on a three-on-two break and scored from the slot to bury his second of the year.

The Bucks were outshot 13-11 in the second period.

Brennan Barker (11:51) and Costello (17:31) would score in the third for Tulsa to make it 6-1 Oilers. The Bucks and Oilers each put up 12 shots in the third with Tulsa outshooting the Bucks in the game 36-29.

Darryl Smith left the game with an injury in the first period forcing the Bucks to play the rest of the game with just 12 skaters. Bucks' leading scorer Neil Trimm, Justin Styffe and Brian Matte also sat out with injuries.

The Bucks continue their four-game in five nights stretch Saturday at Bossier-Shreveport. Game time is 7:05pm.

BUCKS INK GOALTENDER WILSON

Prior to Friday's game the Bucks signed rookie goaltender Dave Wilson. Wilson started this season with Evansville going 2-7-1 with a 3.86 G.AA and a .891 sv. %. Wilson played four seasons of college hockey for Maine University (NCAA D-1).

The Bucks will hold a road watch party on Sunday (Jan. 23rd) at Hal's Landing when the Bucks are in Wichita at 5:05pm.

The party will start at 4:45pm and Hal's will show the game on a big screen as well as offer happy hour drink specials. Bucks staff members will be on hand to give out special prizes, the Bucks will be giving away TWO (2) Allegiant round-trip airfare vouchers for a FREE flight to Vegas!!!
