Sundogs Win Fourth Straight at Home, Top Jackalopes 3-2 in Overtime

Arizona Sundogs News Release
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Luke Erickson recorded his ninth multi-goal game of the season and moved into a tie for the CHL goal scoring lead, tallying his 25th of the season 65 seconds into overtime to help the Arizona Sundogs to their fourth straight win at Tim's Toyota Center Friday night, 3-2 over the visiting Odessa Jackalopes.
With possession at his own blue line early in the extra session, Cam Keith found Erickson circling behind Odessa's defensemen, sending the forward in alone on David McKee who caught a piece of the breakaway attempt with his glove but not enough as the puck bounced across the goal line.
Keith assisted on each of Erickson's tallies, extending his CHL season-high point streak to 13 games.
Erickson tied the game at two with 8:26 remaining in regulation, slapping a Jamie VanderVeeken rebound past McKee from the right post while on his team's fifth and final power play of the contest.
Darryl Bootland tied the score at one at 15:20 of the second period, redirecting a Mike Ramsay shot through the legs of Levente Szuper at the top of the goal crease after the Jackalopes maintained offensive pressure as Erickson was caught without a stick after having it knocked from his grasp in a near collision at the blue line.
Ramsay picked up his second point of the game with 1:25 to play in the middle frame to give Odessa its first lead of the night, lifting a rebound effort inside the near post after Szuper turned away the initial shot from the slot.
Joey Sides tallied his 16th goal of the season less than a minute into the contest, firing a wrist shot near side past the stick of McKee for an early 1-0 lead. Kyle Hood and Billy Bezeau assisted on the play, rushing up the ice before Hood found Sides at the left circle with a cross-ice feed through the slot 55 seconds into the game.
Jason Williams beat McKee with a shot from the slot at 7:29 of the opening frame but referee Geoff Miller ruled play was stopped before the attempt crossed the goal line.
Szuper's biggest stops of the game came in the game's final two minutes with the Sundogs on the penalty kill. Szuper finished with 37 saves to earn his 11th win of the year.
Mark Kolanos left the game early in the second period after a hit along the boards and did not return.
Winners of six of their last eight games at home, the Sundogs (17-18-4) sit just six points back of second place and three points out of third place in the Berry Conference.
Arizona closes out a three-game set against Odessa (18-15-5) tomorrow at 7:05pm at Tim's Toyota Center. Tickets start at just $12 and are available by phone at 1-866-4-GET-TIX (1-866-443-8849), online at www.GetTix.net and in person at the Tim's Toyota Center Box Office.
