Toledo Mud Hens News Release

On Back to the Future Night, while wearing two different jerseys for each game of the doubleheader, the Mud Hens earned a split with the Louisville Bats. In front of the twelfth sell out crowd of the season at Fifth Third Field, Toledo took game one of the night, but weren't able to make a comeback in game two.

The Mud Hens took the first game 3-2. Louisville got on the board first, but the Hens responded by putting up three runs in the fifth inning to lift them to victory. Bryan Holaday started the inning with a single, and then Corey Jones knocked him in with a single up the middle. Josh Wilson followed with a walk, and then Trayvon Robinson reached on a single to load the bases with one out. After working a full count, Dixon Machado sent the sixth pitch of the at bat into left field to plate two and give the Hens a 3-1 lead.

Mike Belfiore started on the mound for Toledo in game one of the night, and was lights out. He lasted six and a third innings of work, allowing only one earned run on six hits. He struck out four on the day, and started his outing by striking out two in a row. Guido Knudson relieved Belfiore with one out in the sixth inning, and struck out the final batter of the game to nail down his fourth save of the season.

In the nightcap, Toledo dropped a nail-biter by a final of 2-1. Kyle Ryan made his first start for the Hens since returning from Detroit. He lasted five innings scattering nine hits, but limited the damage to only two runs. In the fifth inning, three straight hits from Wilson, Wade Gaynor, and Robinson resulted in the Hens' only run. They threatened in the seventh inning, but couldn't get a run off of Louisville's closer Jumbo Diaz.

The Mud Hens are back in action one last time before the All Star break. Toledo takes on the Louisville Bats on Sunday at 4 p.m.
