Today's Game

Tonight, the Bisons host the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders for game two of a three-game series at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.) Buffalo took the first game of the series by a score of 5-4 after a dramatic walk-off home run by OF MELKY MESA in the ninth inning. The Bisons will close out the first half of their season tomorrow before their three-day All-Star break.

vs. the RailRiders

The Bisons are 6-4 against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. However, Buffalo has won six of the last seven contests, out-scoring the RailRiders 26-18 in that span. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre had outscored the Herd 14-4 in the first three contests, a sweep of the Bisons, June 8-10.

Matt Boyd

LHP MATT BOYD will make his fourth start of the season tonight. The southpaw earned the win while throwing seven solid innings of two-run ball last Monday against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Boyd gave up six hits while striking out eight and walking just one. The Bisons were victorious 6-2 in the contest. Boyd has not allowed more than two earned runs in his first three career Triple-A starts.

MattVP

All-Star INF MATT HAGUE collected two more hits yesterday, raising his already International League-leading batting average to .343. His 111 hits are 12 more than any other hitter in the IL. Yesterday's game was Hague's team-leading 35th multi-hit game. The Bisons are 25-10 in games where the slugger has collected two or more hits.

Melky Mesa

In his last 10 games, OF MELKY MESA is batting .349 (15-43) and has collected 10 RBI. His walk-off home run last night was the Bisons' first walk-off win since May 30. Mesa also has five multi-hit performances during his 10-game hot stretch. The outfielder is batting .292 (19-65) since coming off the disabled list on June 23.

Bisons Bits

OF ALEX HASSAN is batting .444 (12-27) over his last seven games. He has also collected three RBI and scored seven runs during that stretch...INF JONATHAN DIAZ collected another hit last night and is now averaging .368 (7-19) in his last five games. He has collected four RBI, scored four runs, and smashed a home run during his recent stretch.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (44-45) were shutout for the second straight days yesterday in Kansas City, 3-0. RHP Marco Estrada threw 6.2 innings of two-run ball. However, the Royals pitching staff shut out the Blue Jays on just six hits. The Blue Jays continue their series in Kansas City today (2:10 p.m.).
