Muckdogs Edge Cutters for Series Sweep

The Williamsport Crosscutters were swept in a four-game series by the Batavia Muckdogs, as they fell again by a final score of 2-1 at Dwyer Stadium.

The Muckdogs took the first lead, as they used two hits and a hit-by-pitch to make it 2-0 in the bottom of the second. Reggie Williams' RBI double highlighted the scoring in the frame.

Batavia starter Jose Almarante stole the show on the mound, as he fired six-plus shutout innings, allowing just three hits before being lifted in the top of the seventh. The Cutters first run came off reliever Ethan Cole in that seventh inning, as Maikel Franco doubled home Aaron Altherr to put the visitors on the board and make it a 2-1 game.

That score would be the final, as Cole fired a scoreless eighth and was followed by a shutout inning from closer Danny Miranda.

Cutters starter Adam Morgan finished with six innings pitched, allowing just two earned runs in the strong start. Franco finished with three of the five Cutters hits.
