Mortensen Solid, Offense Scores Early in Biscuits' Win

MOBILE, Ala. - Jared Mortensen (1-0) tossed five scoreless-innings while the Biscuits' (5-3) offense totaled 12 hits in a 6-1 win over the Mobile BayBears (4-4) on Friday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Mortensen only allowed two hits while striking out two to pick up his first win in double-A. The BayBears threated in the third inning when Mortensen walked three batters. The right-hander was able to get a fielder's choice to end the inning, stranding three runners.

Cameron Seitzer led the way offensively with a two-out, RBI-single in the first inning then a solo shot in the third inning to give the Biscuits a 5-0 lead.

In the second inning, Riccio Torrez grounded out to bring in a run, making it 2-0 Biscuits. Ryan Brett followed with an RBI-triple. Then a double from Taylor Motter scored Brett to make it 4-0 Biscuits.

Jeff Malm's single in the third brought in the sixth run of the game.

The Biscuits offense has now collected 27 hits in the last two games.

The fourth game of the series is Saturday night at 6:05. RH Michael Colla will be on the hill for the Biscuits while the BayBears will have RH Bryan Woodall on the mound.
