MOBILE, AL -- The Mobile BayBears were bested by the Montgomery Biscuits 7-4 Thursday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. The Mobile bats struck first but the Biscuits put up seven runs for the come back victory. The loss was the BayBears first loss at home this season and the first time the BayBears had lost a game in which they scored first.
Mobile took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Tom Belza delivered a two-out, two run single that drove in Jon Griffin. The BayBears struck again in the third inning on a Jake Lamb RBI double that plated Mike Freeman. In the fourth, David Peralta extended the BayBears lead to 4-0 on a David Peralta two run single, giving Mobile a 4-0 lead.
In the seventh inning, the Biscuits got the best of the BayBears bullpen. Montgomery sent 11 batters to the plate, scoring seven runs on seven hits to take the three run lead. All seven hits were singles and all nine batters in the line up either scored a run or drove in a run in the frame.
LHP Andrew Chafin had to settle for his second straight no decision. Chafin finished allowed six, no runs, walked two and struck out four in 5.1 scoreless innings on the mound. The loss was credited to R.J. Hively who gave up four runs in 0.2 innings.
