Mississippi Braves News Release
PEARL, MS -- Mississippi Braves right-handed pitcher Lay Batista has been placed on the disabled list with a right triceps strain retroactive to April 10. In corresponding moves, right-hander Aaron Northcraft has been activated from the disabled list and is scheduled to start Monday night's game at Trustmark Park.
Batista, 24, exited Wednesday night's game against the Generals after dropping the ball on the mound during a pitch the plate. Batista is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in two outings with the Double-A Braves this season. A native of the Dominican Republic, Batista was signed by the Braves on December 20, 2013.
Northcraft, 23, began the 2014 season on the disabled list. He enters the season ranked by Baseball America as the 25th-best prospect in the Braves organization. Northcraft went 8-8 with a 3.42 ERA in 26 starts with the Double-A club last year. He was originally selected by the Braves in the 10th round of the 2009 draft.
The Mississippi roster has 25 active players and 4 disabled.
