Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release

FLORENCE, SC – The Florence Pride, proud members of the ECHL, announced today that they have acquired left wing Ken Goetz (Getz) from the Louisiana Ice Gators for financial considerations.

The 25-year-old Goetz is in his third professional season. He spent the previous two seasons in the Central Hockey League with the Corpus Christi Rayz, racking up 742 penalty minutes in just 118 games, an average of 6.3 penalty minutes per game. Last season, he finished second in the CHL with 374 penalty minutes in 61 games. This season in 10 games with the Ice Gators, Goetz accumulated 70 penalty minutes. In 134 professional games, Goetz has eight goals, seven assists and 839 penalty minutes.

"With Craig Brunel out indefinitely with a broken hand, we felt we needed to address the toughness area," Pride Head Coach Perry Florio said. "Ken is full of heart and desire and not afraid of anyone. I am sure he will be an instant fan favorite in Florence."

The Pride wrap-up their five-game home stand with a pair of games this weekend. On Friday, the South Carolina Stingrays make their first visit of the year to the Lion's Den, and on Saturday, the Columbus Cottonmouths are in town. Both games start at 7:30 p.m. Saturday is the first Season-Ticket Holder Redemption Night of the season. Season-ticket holders can bring nay unused tickets to the Pride office and exchange them for free 400-level tickets for Saturday's game. Individual game tickets for all Pride home games are available at the Florence Civic Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333 or www.ticketmaster.com.
