Express Partners with Hockey Ministries

ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Express and Hockey Ministries International have announced a partnership for the 2003-2004 season. The announcement comes from Express head coach Tony MacAulay and HMI's Ministry Director for the ECHL and Southeast USA, Tim Donelli. HMI will provide a chaplain for the Express and also offer a season-long chapel program for interested Roanoke Express players.

HMI is a non-denomination Christian ministry that provides chapel programs and chaplains at all levels of hockey around the world, including the National Hockey League, American Hockey League, ECHL, Central Hockey League, United Hockey League, NCAA College hockey, and Canadian Junior League's. HMI also provides chapels for several professional leagues and teams in Europe. Attendance by players is voluntary.

HMI is a non-profit organization, federally registered in the United States and Canada with international headquarters located in Montreal, QUE. HMI has satellite offices in numerous cities in North America, including Charlotte, NC which services the ECHL and Southeast USA. HMI is also a member in good standing of the Canadian Council of Christian Churches, a group that provides financial accountability for Christian ministries.

Local Assistant Pastor Dave Finlay will serve as the chaplain for the Roanoke Express. Finlay currently serves as the Assistant Pastor of Roanoke's Penn Forest Wesleyan Church. A native of St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, Finlay grew up playing hockey and continues to play locally as a member of the Roanoke Valley Hockey Association's Senior Hockey League.

HMI's other ministry activities also include staging an extensive summer youth hockey camp program for boys and girls ages 6-16 in various cities in North America and Europe, as well as a literature distribution and special events.
