
Louisiana's Cloutier Named Sun National Bank ECHL Saver of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Frederic Cloutier of the Louisiana IceGators is the
Sun National Bank ECHL Saver of the Month for November.
After opening the season 1-1-0 and allowing five goals in his first two
games, Cloutier was 6-0-1 with a shutout, a 1.41 goals against average and
a .947 save percentage as Louisiana went 10-2-1 to improve to 12-4-1 and
second place in the Central Division.
The 22-year-old Cloutier is 7-1-1 and ranks second in the ECHL with a 1.65
goals against average and fourth in save percentage with .937.
Under contract to Minnesota of the National Hockey League, Cloutier won
his first five games in November, including three straight road games to
open the month, before losing 2-1 in a shootout at Pensacola on November
28. He ended the month making 25 saves in a 1-0 win against Texas on
November 30 for his first shutout of the season, and he begins December
with a career-best scoreless streak of 103:35.
Cloutier and Derek Gustafson have posted back-to-back shutouts, only the
fourth time in team history it has had consecutive shutouts. The duo has
combined for a scoreless streak of 167:25, surpassing the team record of
143:40 set by Cloutier and Marc Magliarditi from November 3-10, 2001.
After going 28-5-3 and setting ECHL records for lowest goals against
average (1.84) and highest save percentage (.945), Cloutier was named CCM
Rookie of the Year and Goaltender of the Year and became the first
goaltender in ECHL history to be named Sher-Wood Most Valuable Player.
Cloutier, who tied the ECHL record with seven shutouts, was also named to
both the All-ECHL First Team and the ECHL Rookie Team.
