More Records Fall as Beast Outlast Division-Leading Monarchs In

MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE - Brampton Beast defenseman Reggie Traccitto took a perfect tape-to-tape pass from David Vallorani and roofed the puck into the net just 23 seconds into the extra frame to give the Beast a dramatic 6-5 victory over the North Division-leading Manchester Monarchs on Friday night at SNHU Arena in Manchester.
Two more significant franchise records were broken on this historic night in Manchester. David Pacan's goal at the 7:50 mark of the second period was his 30th of the season, giving him the Beast single-season goal-scoring record. Andrew Fournier held the previous record at 29 tallies during the 2013-14 Central Hockey League season.
Not to be outdone, David Vallorani's assist on Traccitto's game-winner was his 39th of the season, making him the new single-season assist record holder, beating Jamie VanderVeeken's previous record of 38, also set during the club's inaugural 2013-14 season.
The win was the club's 30th of the season, marking the first time in their ECHL history that the club has reached the 30-win mark. The Beast need three more wins to tie the team single-season wins record, set at 33 victories by the 2013-14 squad.
Zach Fucale may have allowed five goals but he was a difference-maker between the pipes, making highlight-reel saves look routine. He finished the game with 27 saves, making him the first Beast goaltender to reach the 20-win plateau in a single season.
It was the Monarchs who came out flying to start the first period. A couple of quick goals Eric Robinson and Zac Lynch gave the Monarchs an early 2-0 lead by the 11:02 mark of the opening period.
The Beast regrouped and came back even stronger. Chris Leveille got the Beast on the board at the 13:54 mark of the first period, finishing off a 2-on-1 on a flawless pass from Vallorani.
Brampton was feeling the energy from Leveille's tally and quickly struck again to tie the game. Chris Auger pounced on a loose puck in the crease during a scrum in front of Monarchs starting goaltender Sam Brittain and slid in his 15th goal of the season to tie the game.
The Beast took that momentum into the first intermission and kept their foot on the gas to start the second period. Off an offensive zone faceoff, Vallorani threw the puck on goal and Leveille was in the right place at the right time to bang in his second of the night and 12th of the season at the 6:34 mark, giving the Beast their first lead of the night at 3-2.
David Pacan recorded his first goal of the night and his record-breaking 30th of the season at the 7:50 mark of the second period to give the Beast a two-goal lead. Brandon MacLean found Pacan alone in the high slot and the big man sent a blazing shot into the goal.
The Beast outshot the Monarchs 14-8 in the second period and appeared to have all the momentum heading into the final frame.
Joey Diamond scored a power play goal with a perfect shot from a sharp angle to cut the Beast lead to 4-3 just 5:11 into the third.
Manchester kept pushing and tied the game with only seven minutes left in regulation as Matt Leitner capitalized for his 11th goal of the season.
The Monarchs surged ahead to take the lead with only 2:28 remaining in the third period as Gasper Kopitar beat Fucale, giving Manchester its first lead since the first period with time running out.
Beast Head Coach Colin Chaulk pulled his goaltender in the final minutes of play. The risky move paid off with less than a minute remaining in the third as David Pacan executed a perfect redirection from in front of the goal and picked up his second of the game and 31st of the year with only 34 seconds remaining to send this back-and-forth affair into overtime.
It took only 23 seconds for the Beast to steal the victory away from the Monarchs as Traccitto snapped in his third of the season to give the Beast the big victory.

Brandon Marino and Brandon MacLean each earned an assist on Pacan's second period tally to push their point streaks to seven and six games respectively. The Beast return to action tomorrow night as they head to Glens Falls for another North Division matchup, this time against the Adirondack Thunder. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00PM.
