Colorado Eagles News Release

WINDSOR, CO - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, announced Friday that forward Johnny Lazo has been activated from injured reserve after suffering an injury during a practice session on October 17, 2016 at the Budweiser Events Center. The 5-foot-6, 170-pound center posted one goal and one assist in the first two games of the 2016-17 season and has missed the last 52 games during his rehabilitation.

"We are incredibly happy to see Johnny back on the ice and to see all of the hard work that he has put in over the last four months being rewarded," said Eagles president and general manager Chris Stewart. "The way that his teammates stepped up during his absence really speaks volumes about the depth and character in our dressing room. Johnny is a tremendous hockey player and an even better leader, we're excited to see him finally return to our lineup starting tonight."

The Winnipeg, Manitoba native burst onto the scene as a rookie last season, posting 21 goals and 15 assists in just 34 games with Colorado. Lazo would go on to be named the ECHL's Rookie of the Month in January after scoring nine goals in his first nine games as an Eagle. In addition, his shooting percentage of 21.9% led all ECHL rookies during the 2015-16 season and was good for 3rd in the ECHL, overall.

Colorado continues its three-game series against the Utah Grizzlies on Friday, February 24th at 7:05pm at the Budweiser Events Center.
