
Montreal Acquires Dustin Boyd, Dan Ellis and Future Considerations from Nashville in Kostitsyn Trade

MONTREAL, QC - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Pierre Gauthier announced today that the team acquired forward Dustin Boyd, goaltender Dan Ellis and future considerations from the Nashville Predators in return for forward Sergei Kostitsyn and future considerations.
Boyd, 23, split the past season between the Calgary Flames and the Predators recording a total of 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists) in a combined 78 games. The 6-foot, 187-pound centre has amassed a total of 62 regular season points (31 goals, 31 assists) in 210 National Hockey League regular season games. The native of Winnipeg, Manitoba was a gold medalist with Team Canada at the 2006 World Junior Hockey Championships. Boyd was selected in the 3rd round, 98th overall by the Calgary Flames at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He was dealt to the Nashville Predators on March 3rd, 2010.
Ellis, 30, completed his fourth NHL season in 2009-2010 holding a record of 15-13-1 in 31 games played. The native of Orangeville, Ontario had one shutout while maintaining a 2.69 goals-against-average and a .909 save percentage. In 111 NHL regular season games, the 6-foot, 193-pound goaltender has 10 shutouts, a 2.64 goals-against-average and a .912 save percentage while holding a record of 50-42-8. The netminder led all NHL goaltenders in 2007-2008 with a .924 save percentage. Ellis was selected in the 2nd round, 60th overall by the Dallas Stars in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft before signing with the Nashville Predators on July 5th, 2007. Ellis was a member of the Hamilton Bulldogs during the 2004-2005 season holding a record of 10-19-0 with a 2.77 goals-against-average and a .908 save percentage in 31 games.
Kostitsyn, 23, played in 47 games with the Canadiens in 2009-2010 recording 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists). In 16 games with the Bulldogs last season, the native of Novopolotsk, Belarus posted 13 points (four goals, nine assists). In 155 NHL regular season games with Montreal, the 6-foot, 190-pound forward amassed 68 points (24 goals, 44 assists) while serving 123 penalty minutes. Kostitsyn played a total of 54 games with Hamilton from 2007-2010 earning 48 points (15 goals, 33 assists) and 38 penalty minutes.
