(Rochester, NY)... National Hockey League stars Brian Gionta, Ryan Callahan, Marty Reasoner and Scott Nichol, along with Hockey Legends Lindy Ruff, Jim Craig and Mike Eruzione come to Rochester on Sunday, August 1st to participate in a hockey exhibition game in support of Rochester Americans Hall of Fame player Craig Charron. Current NHL players and the hockey heroes face-off at 5:30 p.m. at the Sports Centre at Monroe Community College, with an autograph and photo session scheduled for after the game.
Local NHL players Gionta (Montreal Canadiens), Callahan (New York Rangers), Reasoner (Chicago Blackhawks) and San Jose Sharks forward Nichol will suit-up to show their skills alongside Buffalo Sabres Head Coach Lindy Ruff, former Sabre star Rob Ray and current New Jersey Devil Andrew Peters. Joining the event as honorary coaches will be 1980 United States gold medal-winning Olympians Jim Craig and Mike Eruzione. Jim Craig is the uncle of Craig Charron, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
The Rochester Americans Alumni will also be featured in the game, with approximately 25 current and former players now living in the Rochester-area. Amerk Hall of Famers Jody Gage, Randy Cunneyworth, Jim Wiemer, Scott Metcalfe, Geordie Robertson, Jim Hofford, Dan Frawley and Gates Orlando, along with other local former Amerks, will play in the exhibition. Additional current and past hockey greats will be named to the game at a later date.

Hockey Legend jersey auctions, raffles and other memorabilia will be available, all in support of Charron. The event is hosted by the Rochester Americans Alumni Association in support of Craig Charron.
Charron is aggressively battling the disease. Along with his wife Wendy and four children, Craig has continued to live in Rochester after a long and successful professional hockey career, and is currently Head Coach of the Spencerport High School hockey team, several youth hockey teams and is General Manager of the Sports Centre at MCC. Charron scored 122 goals and added 190 assists in 335 games with the Amerks, leading Rochester to the Calder Cup in 1996 and was inducted into the Rochester Americans Hall of Fame in 2008.
