Abbotsford Heat News Release
The Abbotsford Heat are pleased to announce the first Abbotsford Heat Hockey School presented by Okanagan Hockey School. Okanagan Hockey School has been providing leading edge instruction since 1963 and are in their 47th year of operation. The Abbotsford Heat Hockey School will be held at Centre Ice Sports Arena in Abbotsford from August 16th - August 20th. The camp will be a skill development day camp with session both on the ice and dry land but will also focus will be on having fun!
The head instructor for the week long Abbotsford Heat Hockey School is BC native and star forward Cam Cunning. The hard working left winger, Cunning, is coming off a career high 38 point season. The School will focus on six principal areas; power skating, stick handling, passing, shooting, checking and team concepts, all areas that Cunning and his hard-nosed style have perfected over his five professional seasons.
Also instructing at the camp will be defenceman, Keith Seabrook. Seabrook, from Delta BC played in all but 2 games last season, in his rookie year as a professional. His sniper shot from the point proved to be an important part of the Heat success this past season.
The Heat school has been largely organized by, Heat Assistant Coach, Steve O'Rourke. O'Rourke who was a past instructor with the Okanagan Hockey School says, "It is important in our first year to have partnered with Okanagan Hockey School, who have such a reputable program. Presenting a quality program for our community and having our players and staff involved will help the program grow for years to come."
