CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Monsters, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, defeated the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday at The Q by a final score of 3-1. With the win, the Monsters are now 7-4-2-1 overall this season and with a .607 points percentage, remain alone in second place in the AHL's Central Division standings.

After a scoreless opening period, Miles Koules delivered Cleveland a 1-0 lead with an even-strength goal at 4:21 of the second stanza, thanks to feeds from Sam Vigneault and Doyle Somerby. In the final frame, a Paul Bittner power-play goal at 4:55 made it 2-0 Monsters on feeds from Dean Kukan and Carter Camper before Milwaukee's Emil Pettersson cut Cleveland's lead in half at 19:32. Joe Pendenza posted an unassisted empty-net goal at 19:44 of the final period, however, to cement a 3-1 Monsters win.

Cleveland backstop Joonas Korpisalo improved to 1-0-0 in net this season by virtue of a 32-save performance while Milwaukee's Juuse Saros falling to 0-2-0 despite a 20-save showing on Saturday. Next up for the Monsters, it's a Wednesday road rematch vs. the Admirals with full coverage, live from UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena in Milwaukee, WI, underway at 8:00 pm on 99X and the Monsters Hockey Network.
