MANITOBA MOOSE FORWARD MASON APPLETON NAMED CCM/AHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. .- The American Hockey League announced today that Manitoba Moose forward Mason Appleton has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 19, 2017.

Appleton recorded three goals - including two game-winners - and three assists for six points in three games last week, helping the Moose climb into first place in the North Division.

On Wednesday evening, Appleton scored the decisive goal early in the third period to propel Manitoba to a 3-2 win over visiting Chicago. In Friday's rematch with the Wolves, Appleton registered two assists and set up the go-ahead goal late in the Moose's 6-4 victory. And on Sunday afternoon, Appleton notched the first two-goal game of his young career and finished with three points in a 5-2 win over Laval.

Appleton, a 21-year-old native of Green Bay, Wis., has totaled five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 18 games for Manitoba in 2017-18, ranking third among all AHL rookies in scoring. The Winnipeg Jets' sixth-round selection in the 2015 NHL Draft, Appleton is second on the Moose in assists and points, and tied for third among team skaters with a plus-6 rating. Appleton spent two seasons at Michigan State University, leading the Spartans in goals (12), assists (19) and points (31) last season.

In recognition of his achievement, Appleton will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Moose home game.
