LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

@ Worcester (10/23): Right wing Tyler Toffoli, center Linden Vey and left wing Tanner Pearson were reunited on a line that compiled seven points (3-4=7) in the Manchester Monarchs 4-1 victory over the Worcester Sharks at the DCU Center on Wednesday night. Toffoli picked up two goals, Pearson scored his fourth tally of the season and defenseman Nick Deslauriers found the back of the net for the Monarchs. Right wing Daniil Tarasov scored the lone goal for the Sharks. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (5-0-2) earned his second regulation win, and fifth overall win, of the season stopping 32-of-33 shots. Sharks netminder Harri Sateri (0-3-0) took his third loss of the season making 28 saves on 31 shots. Manchester was 0-for-3 on the power play. Worcester went 1-for-5 with the man advantage.

vs. St. John's (10/25): The Manchester Monarchs dropped their first game in regulation, a 3-2 decision, to the St. John's IceCaps at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. Center Linden Vey and defenseman Nick Deslauriers scored for the Monarchs. Left wing Carl Klingberg, right wing Andrew Gordon and left wing Jason Jaffrey lit the lamp for the IceCaps. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (5-1-2) took his first regulation loss of the season stopping 28-of-31 shots. IceCaps netminder Eddie Pasquale (3-3-0) earned his third win of the season making 25 saves on 27 shots. Manchester was 0-for-2 on the power play. St. John's went 1-for-4 with the man advantage.

vs. St. John's (10/26): The Manchester Monarchs rebounded from a 3-2 loss on Friday night with a 5-3 win over the St. John's IceCaps at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday afternoon. Right wing Tyler Toffoli scored twice, center Linden Vey added his third tally, left wing Tanner Pearson picked up his fifth goal and forward Nick Shore scored his first professional goal for the Monarchs. The IceCaps sparked a comeback in the third period with goals from defenseman Brenden Kitchton, right wing Andrew Gordon and left wing Kael Mouillierat. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (6-1-2) earned his sixth win of the season stopping 21-of-24 shots. IceCaps netminder Jussi Olkinuora (0-2-0) took his second loss of the season with 26 saves on 31 shots. Manchester was 2-for-4 on the power play. St. John's went 1-for-8 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Manchester Monarchs (6-1-1-2) are ranked first in the Atlantic Division with 15 points. The Providence Bruins (4-2-0-2) are ranked second in the division with 10 points. The St. John's IceCaps (3-5-1-0) are in third place with seven points. The Portland Pirates (2-3-0-1) are in fourth place with five points. The Worcester Sharks (2-3-0-0) are ranked fifth in the division with four points.

The Monarchs are ranked 26th in the American Hockey League on the power play with five goals on 41 attempts. Manchester is ranked fifth in the league on the penalty kill stopping their opponent 49-of-55 times.

Right wing Tyler Toffoli (7-5=12) collected seven points (4-3=7) in three games last week to lead the Monarchs with seven goals and 12 points.

Toffoli's seven goals also lead the team and are tied for third best in the American Hockey League.

Center Linden Vey (3-8=11) ranks second on the Monarchs with 11 points. Vey and center Jordan Weal (1-8=9) lead the team with eight assists each. They are also tied for fourth place in assists across the AHL.

Weal is in third place on the Monarchs with nine points.

Right wing Brandon Kozun (1-7=8) sits in fourth place on the Monarchs with eight points.

Kozun ranks in the top 10 all-time in the following Monarchs categories:

Goals - 70 - sixth place

Assists - 88 - sixth place

Points - 158 - sixth place

Power Play Goals - 24 - third place

Game-Winning Goals - 16 - first place

Left wing Tanner Pearson (5-2=7) ranks fifth on the Monarchs with seven points in 10 games Vey, Pearson, and Weal are tied with defenseman Derek Forbort (1-2=3) for second place on the Monarchs with a plus/minus rating of plus-5.

Defenseman Nick Deslauriers (3-2=5) registered a five-game point streak as he collected a point in each game from October 18, 2013- October 25, 2013 This is the longest point streak by a Monarchs player this season.

Defenseman Andrew Campbell (0-3=3) leads the Monarchs with a plus-7 rating. He also is tied for sixth place in the AHL in the plus/minus category.

Rookie forward Nick Shore scored his first professional goal against the IceCaps on Saturday, October 26, 2013.

Goaltender Martin Jones took his first regulation loss in the Monarchs 3-2 loss to the IceCaps on Friday night. He has one shutout, three regulation victories, three shootout wins, one regulation loss, and two shootout losses.

After eight games, Jones has a 6-1-2 record, a 2.13 goals-against-average and a .929 save percentage.

Jones ranks in the top 10 all-time in the following Monarchs goaltending categories:

Games played - 145 - first place

Wins - 74 - first place

Losses - 55 - first place

Ties/Shootout Losses - 9 - tied for second place

Goals-against-average - 2.45 - eighth place

Monarchs Promotions

Canadian Heritage Night - The Monarchs will celebrate the strong Canadian and Franco-American heritage in New Hampshire when they host the Providence Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2. Canadian Heritage Night will feature special Canadian food, music from Canadian artists and bilingual PA announcements.
