Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced Tuesday that forward Cody Bass has been returned on loan by the Columbus Blue Jackets, the team's NHL affiliate. Signed to a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract, Bass appeared in three preseason games for the Blue Jackets before suffering a hand injury September 23 versus the Minnesota Wild.
As one of the Falcons' assistant captains, Bass appeared in 18 games for Springfield during the 2012-13 season, tallying seven points (two goals, five assists) with 54 penalty minutes and a +4 rating. He also scored back-to-back overtime game-winning goals in the first round of the 2013 Calder Cup Playoffs versus Manchester to help seal Springfield's series victory.
The 95th overall pick of the Ottawa Senators at the 2005 NHL Draft, Bass has appeared in 212 career AHL games with Springfield and the Binghamton Senators, registering 57 points (23 goals, 34 assists) and 413 penalty minutes. He won the Calder Cup with Binghamton in 2011 - the same year he received the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award as the AHL's Man of the Year.
The Falcons are back in action Wednesday, October 30 when they hit the road to play the Adirondack Phantoms at the Glens Falls Civic Center. The Puck drops at 7:00 p.m.
The team returns to the MassMutual Center Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2 to host the Hartford Wolf Pack on back-to-back nights. Both games begin at 7:00 p.m.
