Friday, Oct. 25: Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 3, Binghamton 4 (SO)

The Binghamton Senators handed the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins its first loss of the season with a 4-3 shootout victory this past Friday. Nathan Lawson earned his fourth victory of the season stopping 33 of 36 Penguins shots faced.

Stephane Da Costa started the scoring 13:44 into the first period on a power-play marker followed by Matt Puempel's man advantage goal less than one minute later to put the Sens up 2-0.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's Tom Kuhnhackl drew the visitors within one just under two minutes into the middle period before Cole Schneider put the Sens back on top by two with a short-handed tally before the horn sounded to end the second.

The Penguins added two early third period goals tying the game at three all and forcing the extra period. Overtime brought few chances for either team with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton drawing two shots on goal to the Senators one calling for Binghamton's first shootout of the season.

Da Costa and Puempel each scored in the shootout while Lawson was able to turn away all four Penguins chances to give the home team the victory.

Saturday, Oct. 26: Adirondack 3, Binghamton 1

Shots: Adirondack 26, Binghamton 36

PP: Adirondack 2 for 2, Binghamton 1 for 5

Saturday brought the Adirondack Phantoms to the Broome County Arena for the first of six meetings between the teams. Despite outshooting the visitors 36-26, Binghamton fell 3-1 after three unanswered Phantom goals.

Chris Wideman tallied his first goal of the season to open the scoring on a power-play goal at the 9:34 mark of the first period. Andrew Hammond suffered his second loss of the season stopping 23 of 26 Adirondack tries.

Record: 5-3-0-0

Standings: The B-Sens currently hold third place in the East Division with 10 points trailing second place Norfolk by two. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton remains atop the Division with a 6-1-0-1 record and 13 points.

THIS WEEK...

Friday, Nov. 1@ Adirondack Phantoms (Philadelphia Flyers)- 7:00 p.m.

The Senators will travel to Adirondack to start their weekend looking to even the season series at one game apiece after last Saturday's home loss to the Phantoms.

Adirondack currently sits in fourth place in the Northeast Division with a record of 2-4-0-2. Forward Jason Akeson leads the Phantoms in points with six (1 goal, 5 assists).

Saturday, Nov. 2 vs. Syracuse Crunch (Tampa Bay Lightning) - 7:05 p.m.

Saturday the Senators will face their East Division rival, the Syracuse Crunch, for the fourth time this season and third time at home. Binghamton currently leads the season series 2-1.

Forward Nikita Kucherov leads the Crunch through seven games with 11 points (6 goals, 5 assists). Riku Helenius tops all Syracuse goaltenders with a 2-1-0 record.

Promotions: Saturday night's game versus the Crunch will be Ladies Night at the Broome County Arena. Ladies can receive $14.00 tickets either in person at the Arena Box Office or at the Senators Executive Office in person or by phone. American Food & Vending will be offering Happy Hour Food and Drink Specials in the Arena Club with special Cosmo's for the ladies. There will also be a Premium White Wine special in the Wine Garden located along the arena concourse. The B-Sens will be offering a special 15% off woman's apparel at the Sens merchandise stand located along the front concourse.

The Royal Painz and Imperial Forces of the Crown City Rollerz roller derby league will be on hand to collect donations for the YWCA of Cortland's toiletries drive. Items being collected must be new and unopened and can include shampoo, soap, washcloths, sheets, towels, deodorant, etc.

Saturday is also Dunkin Dounts Night with the first 1000 fans through the gates receiving a $2.00 gift card to Dunkin Donut restaurants. Fidelis Care will be sponsoring their second Postgame Open Skate with participants receiving a FREE Fidelis Care hat.

Equinox Broadcasting will be around the concourse with Sunny 107.1's Judith Gross hosting the first intermission youth hockey game.

SENS SNIPPETS...

Forward Mike Hoffman is carrying a three-game point streak into this weekend's games. Dating back to October 20, Hoffman has two goals and two assists over three games.

Rookie forward Ludwig Karlsson played his first career American Hockey League game on Saturday, October 26 in the B-Sens loss to Adirondack. Karlsson was recalled from the B-Sens East Coast Hockey League affiliate, the Elmira Jackals earlier in the afternoon.

2011 First Round Draft pick Matt Puempel scored a power-play goal in the first period and the decisive shootout tally of the Sens victory over the previously unbeaten Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on October 25.
