LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS
vs. Connecticut (4/12): Left wing Tanner Pearson tallied the game-winning goal for the Manchester Monarchs as they defeated the Connecticut Whale, 3-1, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. Right wing Brandon Kozun, left wing Tanner Pearson and center Jordan Weal tallied goals for the Monarchs. Left wing Chris Kreider scored the lone goal for the Whale. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (23-25-4) earned his 23rd win of the season stopping 19-of-20 shots. Whale goaltender Cameron Talbot (25-25-1) took his 25th loss of the season making 42 saves on 45 shots. Manchester went 2-for-6 on the power play. Connecticut was 1-for-1 with the man advantage.
vs. Hershey (4/13): The Manchester Monarchs took a 3-0 first period lead and held on for a 4-3 victory over the Hershey Bears at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. The Monarchs received goals from center Andy Andreoff (two), left wing Hunter Bishop and defenseman Chris Huxley. The Bears tallied goals off the sticks of defenseman Julien Brouillette, right wing Joey Crabb and defenseman Nate Schmidt. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (24-25-4) earned his 24th victory of the season stopping 37-of-40 shots. Bears netminder Dany Sabourin (9-13-2) took his 13th loss of the season making 17 saves on 21 shots. Manchester went 0-for-1 on the power play. Hershey was 0-for-4 with the man advantage.
vs. Worcester (4/14): The Manchester Monarchs improved their winning streak to four games with a 3-0 victory over the Worcester Sharks at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Sunday afternoon. Left wing Marc-Andre Cliche, right wing Brandon Kozun and center Linden Vey tallied goals for the Monarchs. Manchester netminder Martin Jones (25-25-4) earned his fifth shutout of the season and his 25th victory of the season stopping all 32 shots faced. Sharks goaltender Alex Stalock (16-16-3) took his 16th loss of the season making 24 saves on 26 shots. Manchester went 0-for-2 on the power play. Worcester was 0-for-4 with the man advantage.
MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES The Providence Bruins (47-21-0-5) sit in first place in the Atlantic Division with 99 points. The Portland Pirates (38-29-3-2) are in second place in the division with 81 points. The Manchester Monarchs (35-31-3-4) rank third in the division with 77 points. The Worcester Sharks (30-33-4-6) are in fourth place in the division with 70 points. The St. John's IceCaps (31-35-3-4) sit in fifth place in the division with 69 points.
The Monarchs are 16-17-1-1 on the road and are 19-14-2-3 at home this season.
Manchester is 15-7-0-0 overall when they play on a Saturday this season.
The Monarchs finished the season 4-0-0-0 when playing the IceCaps in St. John's this season. Manchester has a six-game winning streak in St. John's dating to the 2011-12 season.
The Monarchs played in their 1,000th game on Saturday, February 16 against the IceCaps.
The Monarchs are third in the American Hockey League when faced with a penalty kill on the road (86.2%).

Vey had a nine-game assist and point streak (1-13=14) end on Saturday, January 19. Vey's nine-game assist streak set a Monarchs franchise record.
Vey leads the team with 14 power play assists.
Vey is third on the team with 21 goals.
Right wing Brandon Kozun (26-30=56) is second on the team with 56 points.
Kozun is ranked second on the team in both goals (26) and assists (30), respectively.
Kozun leads the team with seven game-winning goals this season.
Kozun tallied game-winning goals against the Sharks on Saturday, October 27, against the Binghamton Senators on Sunday, October 28, against the IceCaps on Wednesday, November 7, versus the Bruins on Saturday, January 19, against the IceCaps on Friday, February 15 and versus the Sharks on Friday, February 22 and Sunday, April 14.
Kozun's seven game-winning tallies rank tied for fourth in the league.
Kozun has 68 career tallies in a Monarchs uniform which is ranked fifth on the franchise's all-time goals list.
Right wing Tyler Toffoli (28-20=48) is third on the team with 48 points.
Toffoli was name to the 2013 AHL All-Rookie Team and was honored as the 2013 Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial Award which is given to the AHL's most outstanding rookie.
Toffoli was named the Monarchs representative on the 2013 Dunkin' Donuts AHL All-Star Classic Roster on Thursday, January 17. Toffoli registered a goal and an assist in a 7-6 loss for the Eastern Conference in the 2013 Dunkin' Donuts AHL All-Star Game on Monday, January 28.
Toffoli tallied his second hat trick of the season and second against the Pirates in a 5-3 victory on Saturday, December 22.
Toffoli has 10 goals in 10 games against the Pirates this season, which led all VIP Cup skaters.
Toffoli leads the team and AHL rookie skaters with 28 goals this season.
Toffoli's 28 goals are in eighth place among league skaters. Toffoli's 48 points are tied for fifth place in the league among rookie skaters.
Toffoli leads the team with six power play goals and three shorthanded tallies this season.
Toffoli has eight goals and 10 assists for 18 points in his last 17 games.
Toffoli leads the team with 172 shots on goal this season.
Toffoli also leads the team in plus/minus with plus-20.
Toffoli was recalled to the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday, March 10 and made his NHL debut Saturday, March 16 against the San Jose Sharks . Toffoli has two goals and three assists for five points in eight games for the Kings.
Left wing Tanner Pearson (15-27=42) is in fourth place on the Monarchs with 42 points.
Pearson is in third place on the team with 27 assists.
Pearson returned to the Monarchs line-up on Friday, March 15. He had been out of the line-up since Sunday, February 24 missing five games with an upper body injury. Pearson was reinjured in the Monarchs game on Friday, March 15. Pearson returned to the Monarchs line-up on Wednesday March 27 after missing six games.
Center Jordan Weal (15-18=33) is in fifth place on the Monarchs with 33 points.
Weal had his four-game goal streak come to an end on Saturday, April 13.
Weal has six goals and four assists for 10 points in his last 12 games.
Defenseman David Kolomatis (7-18=25) is in sixth place on the Monarchs with 25 points.
Kolomatis returned to the Monarchs line-up on Friday, December 28 after missing 23 games due to injury.
Center Andy Andreoff (12-12$) is in seventh place on the Monarchs with 24 points.
Andreoff tallied his second professional multi-goal game in a 4-3 victory against the Bears on Saturday, April 13.
Defenseman Nick Deslauriers (4-19=23) is in eighth place on the Monarchs with 23 points.
Deslauriers leads Monarchs defensemen with 19 assists this season.
Center Andrei Loktionov (7-15=22) is in ninth place on the Monarchs with 22 points.
Loktionov was traded to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, February 7 for a fifth round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Left wing Marc-Andre Cliche (10-10=20) ranks 10th on the Monarchs with 20 points.
Cliche had surgery on Monday, February 4 and returned to the Monarchs line-up on Saturday, March 23 against the Bears.
Cliche is in third place on the Monarchs all-time games played list with 338.
Cliche has scored 68 goals in his career with the Monarchs which is tied for sixth place on the franchise's all-time goals scored list.
Cliche ranks ninth on the Monarchs all-time points list with 150 and ranks ninth on the franchise's all-time assist list with 83.
Defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk (5-13=18) and left wing Colton Yellow Horn (6-12=18) are tied for 11th place on the Monarchs with 18 points each.
Bodnarchuk is tied for second on the team in plus/minus with plus-17.
Yellow Horn tallied his first AHL point, an assist, in his AHL debut on Sunday, February 10.
Yellow Horn tallied his first AHL goal on Tuesday, February 12.
Yellow Horn has 18 points (6-12=18) in 25 games with the Monarchs.
Left wing Dwight King (5-12=17) and right wing Stefan Legein (5-12=17) are tied for 13th on the Monarchs with 17 points each.
King was recalled by the Kings on Tuesday, January 15.
Legein tallied goals in consecutive games on March 8 and 10. His goal on March 8 was scored in overtime and his goal scored on March 10 was scored when the Monarchs were shorthanded.
Defenseman Slava Voynov (7-9=16) ranks 15th on the Monarchs with 16 points.
Voynov's seven goals lead team defensemen.
Voynov rejoined the Kings on Tuesday, January 15.
Defenseman Bryan Rodney (4-11=15) is in 16th place on the Monarchs with 15 points.
Right wing Brian O'Neill (3-11=14) is in 17th place on the Monarchs with 14 points.
O'Neill had a three-game assist streak snapped on Friday, March 29 against the Pirates.
Defenseman Vincent LoVerde (2-11=13) ranks 18th on the Monarchs with 13 points.
LoVerde tallied his first AHL goal in a 4-1 loss to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday, February 1.
LoVerde scored on Penguins netminder Jeff Zatkoff who is a former teammate of LoVerde's while they played for the NCAA's Miami University (Ohio) Redhawks.
LoVerde is tied for second on the Monarchs in plus/minus with a plus-17.
The Monarchs signed LoVerde to a professional tryout agreement on Wednesday, January 9.
Defenseman Thomas Hickey (3-9=12) is in 19th place on the Monarchs with 12 points.
Hickey was claimed off waivers by the New York Islanders on Tuesday, January 15.
Defenseman Jake Muzzin (2-9=11) is tied with defenseman Andrew Campbell (2-9=11) for 20th place on the Monarchs with 11 points each.
Muzzin was recalled by the Kings on Sunday, January 13.
Muzzin was named the NHL's Rookie of The Month for March with four goals and seven assists for 11 points in 17 games with the Kings.
Campbell returned from an upper body injury on Friday, December 7 in Providence after missing 16 games. Campbell was recalled by the Kings on February 6 and was reassigned to Manchester on February 8. Campbell was recalled to the Kings for a second stint on Wednesday, February 13 and was reassigned to the Monarchs on Saturday, March 2.
Campbell's 342 games are in second place on the Monarchs all-time games played list.
Left wing David Meckler (3-6=9) ranks 22nd on the Monarchs with nine points.
Meckler has 77 tallies for his Monarchs career ranking second on the franchise all-time list.
Meckler holds the franchise record for games played with 376 in a Monarchs uniform. Meckler's 350th game came against the Pirates on Sunday, November 25.
Left wing Richard Clune (2-5=7) is tied with right wing Anthony Stewart (4-3=7) for 23rd place on the Monarchs with seven points each.
Clune led the team with 98 penalty minutes.
Clune's 786 penalty minutes rank second on the Monarchs all-time career penalty minutes list.
Clune was picked up off waivers by the Nashville Predators on Tuesday, January 15.
The Kings picked up Stewart along with a draft pick from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for right wing Kevin Westgath on Sunday, January 13. Stewart cleared waivers and joined the Monarchs on Tuesday, January 22.
Left wing Jordan Nolan (2-4=6) is tied with center Robbie Czarnik (4-2=6) and defenseman Chris Huxley (1-5=6) for in 25th place on the Monarchs with six points each. Nolan was recalled by the Kings on Tuesday, January 15.
Left wing Hunter Bishop (3-2=5) is in 28th place on the Monarchs with five points.
Bishop made his Monarchs debut on Friday, February 22 against the Sharks.
Bishop tallied his first AHL goal in a 4-1 victory over the IceCaps on Saturday, March 2. Bishop's tally came while the Monarchs were shorthanded and it proved to be the game-winning goal.
Huxley made his Monarchs and AHL debut in a 3-0 victory over the Bruins on Wednesday, January 23.
Huxley scored his first AHL goal on Saturday, April 13 in a 4-3 vicotry against the Bears.
Huxley tallied his first AHL point, an assist, in a 4-1 loss to the Penguins on Friday, February 1.
Huxley has a plus/minus of plus-11 through his first 26 games with the Monarchs.
The Monarchs signed Huxley to a professional tryout agreement on Tuesday, January 22.
Forward Ian O'Connor (2-0=2) is in 29th place on the Monarchs with two points. O'Connor tallied his first career AHL goal on Wednesday, March 6.
O'Connor made his Monarchs debut on Friday, March 1.
Defenseman Derek Forbort (0-1=1) is tied with right wing Scott Sabourin (0-1=1) for 30th place on the Monarchs with one point each.
Forbort recently joined the Monarchs and is a Kings first round (15th overall) selection from the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Forbort made his professional debut with the Monarchs on Friday, April 12 and tallied his first professional point on Saturday, April 13.
Sabourin also recently joined the Monarchs. Sabourin played three-plus seasons with the OHL's Oshawa Generals before signing a two- year AHL contract with Manchester.
Goaltender Martin Jones (25-25-4) has a 2.58 goals-against-average, a 0.917 save percentage and has stopped 1528-of-1667 shots attempted in 54 games this season.
Jones appeared in his 100th game in a Monarchs uniform in a 3-2 shootout loss against the Springfield Falcons on Sunday, December 16.
Right wing Justin Johnson (0-0=0) has 19 penalty minutes in 12 games this season. Last season, Johnson had 187 penalty minutes in 41 games.
Goaltender Peter Mannino (10-7-0) has a 2.47 goals-against-average and a 0.919 save percentage in 20 games this season.
Netminder Jean-Francois Berube (0-2-0) made his season debut in relief of Mannino on Tuesday, January 15 making 13 saves on 17 shots while recording the loss for the Monarchs.
Berube made his first start of this season with the Monarchs on Sunday, March 17. It was Berube's first start with the Monarchs since April 11, 2010.
Berube was reassigned by the Kings to the ECHL's Ontario Reign on Monday, March 25.
