LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

vs. Albany (1/11): Center Linden Vey tallied four assists to lead the Manchester Monarchs over the Albany Devils, 7-4, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. The Monarchs registered goals from center Andrei Loktionov, right wing Brian O'Neill, left wing Tanner Pearson (two), right wing Tyler Toffoli (two) and center Jordan Weal. Defenseman Adam Larsson, left wing Harri Pesonen, left wing Mattias Tedenby and center Steve Zalewski scored for the Devils. Monarchs goaltender Peter Mannino (9-4-0) earned his ninth of the season stopping 33-of-37 shots. Devils netminder Jeff Frazee (3-6-1) took his sixth loss of the season making 28 saves on 34 shots. Manchester went 2-for-3 on the power play. Albany was 3-for-7 with the man advantage.

@ Providence (1/13): Goaltender Peter Mannino made 39 saves but the shorthanded Manchester Monarchs fell to the Providence Bruins, 2-1, at Dunkin' Donuts Center on Sunday afternoon. Right wing Brandon Kozun scored the lone goal for the Monarchs. Left wing Craig Cunningham and right wing Graham Mink scored goals for the Bruins. Monarchs goaltender Peter Mannino (9-5-0) took his fifth loss of the season making 39 saves on 41 shots. Goaltender Niklas Svedberg (15-6-1) earned his 15th victory of the season stopping 22-of-23 shots. Manchester went 0-for-2 on the power play. Providence went 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Portland Pirates (23-12-1-1) sit in first place in the Atlantic Division with 48 points. The Worcester Sharks (19-15-1-2) are in second place in the division with 41 points. The Providence Bruins (19-14-0-2) rank third in the division with 40 points. The Manchester Monarchs (17-16-2-2) are in third place in the division with 38 points. The St. John's IceCaps (16-20-1-1) sit in fifth place in the division with 34 points.

The Monarchs are 8-7-0-1 on the road and are 9-9-2-1 at home this season.

Manchester is 10-2-0-0 overall when they play on a Saturday this season.

Manchester scored three power play goals in a game for the third time this season in a 5-3 victory against the Pirates on Saturday, December 22.

The Monarchs have the third highest success rate in the American Hockey League when faced with a penalty kill on the road (87.8%).

Manchester is 3-1-0-0 to begin the new calendar year. Center Linden Vey (8-24=32) leads the team with 24 assists and 32 points.

Vey appeared in his 100th AHL game (all with the Monarchs) on Saturday, December 15 against the Adirondack Phantoms.

Vey is currently on a seven-game point streak (0-11=11) and has 13 points (1-12=13) in his last nine games.

Right wing Tyler Toffoli (18-11=29) is second on the team with 29 points.

Toffoli tallied his second hat trick of the season and second against the Pirates in a 5-3 victory on Saturday, December 22.

Toffoli has eight goals in six games against the Pirates this season, which also leads all VIP Cup skaters.

Toffoli leads the team and is tied for the league lead among rookie skaters with 18 goals this season.

Toffoli's 18 goals are also tied for fourth among league skaters. Toffoli's 29 points are tied for fifth in the league among rookie skaters.

Toffoli leads the team with five power play goals this season.

Toffoli leads the team in plus/minus with plus-13.

Toffoli has five goals and two assists for six points in his last five games.

Toffoli leads the team with 107 shots on goal this season.

Right wing Brandon Kozun (10-15=25) ranks third on the team with 25 points.

Kozun is in third place on the team with 15 assists.

Kozun is second on the team with 10 goals this season.

Kozun leads the team with three game-winning goals this season, which is tied for 14th place in the AHL.

Kozun tallied the game-winning goals against the Sharks on Saturday, October 27, against the Binghamton Senators on Sunday, October 28 and the IceCaps on Wednesday, November 7.

Left wing Tanner Pearson (9-16=25) ranks fourth on the Monarchs with 25 points.

Pearson is second on the Monarchs with 16 assists.

Pearson had a four-game point streak (3-4=7) snapped in a 2-1 loss against the Bruins on Sunday, January 13.

Pearson is second on the team in plus/minus with a plus-11.

Center Andrei Loktionov (7-12=19) is in fifth place on the Monarchs with 19 points.

Loktionov leads the team and is tied for third in the AHL with two shorthanded goals this season.

Left wing Dwight King (5-12=17) ranks sixth on the Monarchs with 17 points.

King is tied for the league lead with two shorthanded assists this season.

Defenseman Slava Voynov (7-9=16) ranks seventh on the Monarchs with 16 points.

Voynov's seven goals lead team defensemen.

Defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk (3-9=12) and defenseman Thomas Hickey (3-9=12) is tied for eighth place on the Monarchs with 12 points each.

Bodnarchuk is tied with Voynov, Hickey and defenseman Jake Muzzin (2-9=11) for the team lead amongst blueliners with nine assists each.

Muzzin and left wing Marc-Andre Cliche (5-6=11) are tied for 10th place on the Monarchs with 11 points each.

Cliche ranks second on the Monarchs all-time games played list with 319.

Cliche has scored 63 goals in his career with the Monarchs which tie him for eighth place on the franchise's all-time list with center Yanick Lehoux.

Cliche ranks ninth on the Monarchs all-time points list with 142 and ranks 10th on the franchise's all-time assist list with 79.

Right wing Stefan Legein (2-8=10) ranks 12th on the Monarchs with 10 points.

Defenseman Nick Deslauriers (2-7=9) ranks 13th on the Monarchs with nine points.

Left wing Richard Clune (2-5=7) is tied with defenseman David Kolomatis (3-4=7) and defenseman Bryan Rodney (2-5=7) for 14th place on the Monarchs with seven points each.

Clune leads the team with 98 penalty minutes.

Clune's 786 penalty minutes rank second on the Monarchs all-time career penalty minutes list.

All three of Kolomatis' goals this season have come when the team was on a power play.

Kolomatis returned to the Monarchs line-up on Friday, December 28 after missing 23 games due to injury.

Center Andy Andreoff (4-2=6) is tied with left wing Jordan Nolan (2-4=6) for 17th place on the Monarchs with six points each.

Center Jordan Weal (3-2=5) and defenseman Andrew Campbell (0-5=5) are tied for 19th place on the Monarchs with five points each.

Weal scored goals in back-to-back games for the first time in his professional career.

Campbell returned from an upper body injury on Friday, December 7 in Providence. Campbell had been out of the line-up since Sunday, October 28 missing 16 games. Campbell's 316 games rank third all-time on the Monarchs all-time games played list.

Campbell leads team defensemen in plus/minus with a plus-9.

Right wing Brian O'Neill (2-2=4) is in 21st place on the Monarchs with three points.

Center Robbie Czarnik (2-0=2) is tied with left wing David Meckler (0-2=2) for 22nd on the Monarchs with two points each.

Meckler holds the franchise record for games played with 358 in a Monarchs uniform. Meckler's 350th game came against the Pirates on Sunday, November 25.

Defenseman Vincent LoVerde (0-1=1) is ranked 24th on the Monarchs with one point.

Right wing Justin Johnson (0-0=0) has five penalty minutes in five games this season. Last season, Johnson had 187 penalty minutes in 41 games.

Goaltender Martin Jones (8-13-2) has a 2.61 goals-against-average, a 0.912 save percentage and has stopped 615-of-674 shots attempted in 23 games this season.

Jones' 615 saves this season are ranked 15th among league netminders.

Jones appeared in his 100th game in a Monarchs uniform in a 3-2 shootout loss against the Springfield Falcons on Sunday, December 16.

Goaltender Peter Mannino (9-5-0) has a 2.21 goal-against-average and a 0.926 save percentage in 16 games this season.
