Oklahoma City Barons News Release

Oklahoma City - The second session of the Oklahoma City Barons program with Special Olympics called "Barons Buddies" takes place Wednesday, January 16 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Red Pin bowling alley in Bricktown.

The Barons Buddies program allows a family involved with Special Olympics Oklahoma to be "adopted" by a player on the Barons roster. The first session of the program was October 16 when the players hosted the Special Olympics athletes at the Cox Convention Center. The athletes and their families received a tour of the locker room as well as played games with the Barons players.

In addition to participating in the three events during the season, the families are invited to the Barons home game February 1 against the Charlotte Checkers when the team will once again wear one-of-a-kind jerseys that are available for bids in a live auction following that game.

Last season, the Barons and Special Olympics created memories for 20 athletes and their families and raised over $25,000 in the process via the team wearing and auctioning one-of-a-kind jerseys.

The Barons are in the midst of a five-game homestand. Next weekend the Barons skate in back-to-back games against the San Antonio Rampage. Faceoff for both games next weekend is 7 p.m. Friday night means $1 hot dogs and $2 draft beers from 6 - 8 p.m. Saturday, the Barons are giving away another car in the Drive Away Every Saturday promotion. One lucky fan wins a Dodge Ram Truck from John Vance Motors and the Barons.

A variety of ticket packages are available to meet every individual or group need. Packages ranging from 7-game and 11-game packs to Full Season Seats are available. Call the Barons' front office at 405-232-4625 for information on group outings, Season Seats and other ticket packages.
