LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

@ Providence (11/4): Goaltender Martin Jones stopped all 21 shots in the third period to help the Manchester Monarchs pull out a 2-1 victory over the Providence Bruins at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Friday night. The Monarchs goals were scored by right wing Brandon Kozun and defenseman Patrick Mullen. Center Maxime Sauve scored the lone goal for the Bruins. Monarchs netminder Martin Jones made 39 saves on 40 shots for his fourth victory of the season. Bruins goaltender Anton Khudobin took the loss stopping 32-of-34 shots. The Monarchs went 0-for-2 on the power play. Providence went 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

vs. Providence (11/5): The Manchester Monarchs fell short against the Providence Bruins, 3-2, in a six-round shootout at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. The Monarchs tallies came from right wing Brandon Kozun and defenseman David Kolomatis. The Bruins goals were scored by center Josh Hennessy and defenseman Zach McKelvie. Hennessy scored the lone goal in the shootout for the Bruins. Monarchs goaltender Jeff Zatkoff took the shootout loss making 26 saves on 28 shots. Bruins netminder Anton Khudobin earned the victory stopping 27-of-29 shots. The Monarchs went 1-for-5 on the power play. Providence went 0-for-4 with the man advantage.

vs. Portland (11/6): The Manchester Monarchs fell short against the Portland Pirates, 4-1, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Sunday afternoon. Center Marc-Andre Cliche scored the lone goal for the Monarchs. The Pirates received goals from right wing Brett Hextall, center Brock Trotter, right wing Ryan Duncan and center Colin Long. Netminder Martin Jones took the loss making 43 saves on 47 shots for the Monarchs. Pirates goaltender Justin Pogge picked up the victory stopping 32-of-33 shots. Manchester went 0-for-2 on the power play. Portland went 1-for-6 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Manchester Monarchs (5-8-0-1) are in third place in the Atlantic Division with 11 points. The St. John's IceCaps (9-2-3-0) sit in first place in the division with 21 points. The Providence Bruins (6-7-1-0) are in second place in the division with 13 points. The Worcester Sharks (4-2-0-2) rank third in the division with 10 points. The Portland Pirates (3-5-0-1) are in fifth place in the division with nine points.

The Monarchs went 1-1-0-1 for the week of October 31- November 6.

The Monarchs are 4-4-0-1 against Atlantic Division teams this season including a road record of 4-2-0-0.

At the Verizon Wireless Arena this season, the Monarchs own a 1-4-0-1 record overall.

Manchester is on a five-game winless streak at home.

The Monarchs are undefeated in regulation (5-0-0-1) in games which they have led after the first period.

Manchester surrendered 47 shots on goal in a 4-1 loss against the Pirates on Sunday afternoon. It was the most shots on goal by a Monarchs opponent this season.

Sunday's game against the Pirates saw the most shots on goal combined in a Monarchs game this season with 80 total shots.

The Monarchs (301 penalty minutes) league the lead for the most penalty minutes this season. The team is averaging 21.5 penalty minutes a game which is tied for second most in the league.

Manchester lost their first shootout of the season on Saturday night against the Bruins, 3-2. It was a six-round shootout with the lone goal coming off the stick of Bruins center Josh Hennessy.

Monarchs center Andrei Loktionov (3-11=14) leads the team in both assists (11) and points (14).

Loktionov's 11 assists are tied for third best in the league.

Monarchs center Marc-Andre Cliche (6-3=9) leads the team with six goals and a plus/minus of plus-7.

Manchester left wing Richard Clune (3-3=6) leads the league with 62 penalty minutes this season.

Monarchs right wing Brandon Kozun's (4-1=5) three-game goal streak was snapped as he was held off the scoreboard against Portland on Sunday afternoon.

Defenseman Jake Muzzin (3-4=7) leads Monarchs defensemen with three goals on the season.

Muzzin's three goals this season also ties him for second place in the league amongst defensemen.

Monarchs defenseman Patrick Mullen (1-4=5) scored his first goal of the season, the game-winning goal, against the Bruins on Friday night.

Manchester goaltender Martin Jones (4-5-0) snapped a four-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory against the Bruins on Friday night. The franchise record for a goaltender's losing streak is six games.

Jones made two starts this weekend, combining for 82 saves in Friday and Sunday's games, including 23 saves in the first period of Sunday's match-up with Portland. The 82 saves are the highest two-game total by a Monarchs goaltender this season.

Monarchs goaltender Jeff Zatkoff stopped 26-of-28 in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Bruins on Saturday night. Zatkoff made five saves on six shootout attempts.

Education Day, Presented by Northeast Delta Dental - Join us as the Monarchs turn the Verizon Wireless Arena the state's largest classroom for the second annual Education Day, presented by Northeast Delta Dental. The Monarchs will take on the Portland Pirates on Wednesday November 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Students in attendance will receive a special School Day Booklet, presented by Northeast Delta Dental.

Mullets in Movember - The Monarchs players and employees have begun growing their moustaches as the team does its part to raise awareness in health issues specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that effect men. The first 3,000 fans to Mullets in Movember will receive mullet wigs and moustaches on Saturday, November 19, 2011 when the team hosts the WB/Scranton Penguins at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
