
Monarchs Sign O'Connor

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have signed forward Ian O'Connor to a professional tryout agreements, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
O'Connor, 26, recorded one assist in three games with the St. John's IceCaps this season. The six-foot, 200-pound forward began the season in the Monarchs Training Camp before being cut and sent to the ECHL's Reading Royals. Following two scoreless games with the Royals, O'Connor was signed by the IceCaps on October 23. He was released from St. John's on November 3.
O'Connor split the 2012-13 season between Manchester and Reading. In 17 games with the Monarchs, the forward collected two goals and nine penalty minutes. The native of Londonderry, New Hampshire recorded 31 points (18-1331) and 38 penalty minutes in 55 regular season games with the Royals. Assisting Reading to the 2013 Kelly Cup Championship, O'Connor tallied eight points (6-28) and 21 penalty minutes in 16 playoff games.
O'Connor has appeared in 124 ECHL games registering 37 goals and 27 assists for 64 points and 99 penalty minutes for the ECHL's Stockton Thunder and Royals. He played four years for the Providence College Friars recording 26 goals and 36 assists for 62 points and 102 penalty minutes in 135 games from 2007-2011. O'Connor also played in 171 games for the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs collecting 40 goals and 54 assists for 94 points and 102 penalty minutes. O'Connor will wear No. 24 for the Monarchs.
