
Monarchs Recall Hayward; Rudkowsky Returns From Worcester

READING, PA - The Manchester Monarchs, the AHL affiliate of the Reading Royals, have recalled right wing Leon Hayward. The Worcester IceCats of the American Hockey League have assigned Cody Rudkowsky back to Reading.
Hayward, 24, has appeared in 16 games for the Monarchs this season, recording three points (1-2=3) and 11 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound native of Seattle, Washington, has also appeared in 20 games for the Royals this season, recording 10 points (7-3=10) and 14 penalty minutes. Hayward agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Monarchs in August of 2003.
Rudkowsky, 26, received his third call up to Worcester in less than a month. He has appeared in one game with the IceCats recording no decision. The Willingdon, Alberta native is currently 14-10-3 with Reading and ranks second in the ECHL in goals against average with a 2.14. Rudkowsky has posted a sparkling .934 save percentage which ranks third among ECHL netminders.
The Reading Royals take the ice at home on Friday, January 30 against the Augusta Lynx at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans 12-and-under through the gate receive a free sportsbag courtesy of CTCE. Superbowl Sunday afternoon the Royals will host the Dayton Bombers at 1:05 p.m. All Royals action can be found via Sportsjuice at the Royals website at www.royalshockey.com or locally on ESPN Radio, 1240AM with the pre-game show beginning 25-minutes before the drop of the puck.
