Wildcatters gun down Ice Pilots, 5-2

Beaumont, TX (January 30, 2004) - The Texas Wildcatters hosted Pensacola for their fifth of seven meetings at Ford Arena this season, defeating the Ice Pilots 5-2. Martin Masa opened up the scoring for the Wildcatters at the 11:11 mark of the first period as he tapped in a John Campbell pass for his eighth goal of the season. Wildcatters' defenseman Aaron MacInnis earned an assist for his initial shot from the point. The Wildcatters led 1-0 until Wes Mason scored at the 18:33 mark of the opening stanza.

Pensacola took the lead early in the second period as Brian Collins tacked on an unassisted goal. Texas would bounce back at the 18:33 mark of the same period as newly acquired Ryan Fultz tallied his first goal of the season from Tony Lawrence and John Snowden. The two teams took a 2-2 tie into the locker room after two periods of play.

The score remained tied until the 9:13 mark of the third when MacInnis scored the game winning goal shorthanded from Masa. Three minutes later, Wildcatters forward Ashlee Langdone netted his third goal of the year from Rae Metz and Brian Passmore. Tony Lawrence would add an empty-net goal with 36 seconds left in the game from Masa and Rob Guinn to round out the scoring as the Wildcatters defeated the Ice Pilots 5-2. Wildcatters netminder Davis Parley earned his 11th win of the season, turning away 19 of the 21 shots he faced. Brian Eklund suffered the loss, ending with 30 saves.
